welcome aboard man, glad to have you! :)

Start up here for basic set up guide, and be sure to install the optimized clients as it states in the thread. And yeah, there can be some quirky little options initially, fell free to post questions or just PM one of us.

yes, and don't worry, athlon 64's can still do quite a lot. if you can try to get all your friends and parent's computers to run rosetta too, with thier permission ofcourse ;)

what is that word? " Permission"? Don't think I ever heard of it!
I sort of think of copping a PC as I'm helping them to do good things for science since the PC owner hadn't thought of it!
Set it as a service with 50% usage and I'll guarantee you that 80% of the PC owners in the world would never know it's there..
Legal disclaimer:
The above is all theory. I would never install any app on any machine with out the owners permission..:wasntme:

in high school, i knew passwords to every system in the school
in one of the computer classes i was a teacher assistant
some kid got the bright idea he was going to bother me for some dumb reason....

he got all his files temporarily deleted from his drive, including a webpage he worked on for a very long time. all of this with the teacher knowing about it (he actually told him he shouldn't have been bothering me)

i later cleaned out his entire account, all his mp3's,downloads, because he got annoying once again.

heck, i even got to get out of class sometimes to go fix a teacher's computer ;).

but im most proud of the 50 or so times i just left the school campus during the day...walked right by the cameras...never got caught, fun times:p:

I wish I had Admin rights in my computer lab..............so I could screw with kids that surf myspace, and use P2P, and think that just cause you click on a another winow that I can't see the icon in the systray, or the toolbat that says BEarshare/AREs/Limwire, or when they are on their cell phones I could send a IM through windows.............I think like we used to in WIN2K and screw with peoples heads :-P. I forget how it was done, and where from.......even better just take over their pc with remote access and reboot it :-P, or slow down their connection so it takes forever for their web pages to load. MU HAHAHAHA the ignorant that think they are so wise realize not they are just puppets, I AM EVIL!:D :woot:

Phelan, looks like you've been pulled intot he rosetta section.

If you aren't already crunching for XS, you are now required to do so. :)

Hit the "Setting up Rosetta" thread at the top of the page and get to crunching.
And if you want to join XSTM, let one of us know and we'll get you hooked up. :woot: Either way though, the time has come to crunch if you aren't yet. :woot:

my avatar is only 8kb, so i dont see why you would have any probs

my avatar when saved as a .jpg in photoshop with the lowest quality settings of 1 was 20kb still... it was 19 kb when saved as a .gif... i ended up actually puting my avatar into 3ds max and rendering it. after it rendered an 180x180 image and saved it the avatar was only 8kb on 75% compression ratio... i love 3ds max's compression :)

yeah, we gnerally use Photoshop's "Save for web" function, which highly compresses jpegs to where a 180x180 pic is about 7-9kb.

I remember when I was making my first avatar for XS_D2OL I couldnt get it below 20k @ 180x180 when I tryed to "Save As" xxx.jpg. When I tried to "Save for web" it was like 10kb. I was sooo happy.
