View Full Version : Sandra CPU- MIPS....WHO'S THE KING

Thought we could take a break from the ORB for a nanosecond and see who is king in the world of mips.

I'll get right to it as I'm typing @ 188x15=2820mhz. XP2700+/kd7/1.95v:D

Come on I know this site has some members with near lightning systems. Latest test for me produced a score of, get this,10633mips....My record...hands down. This KD7 has more voltage so I hope to better my score by at least a few hundred.

any takers??

Well, you beat me.

But then again, I have a 6 month old Pee4.

Just added a half a volt to the cpu and am typing to you at 2850..

very happy so far, but the chill control on the prom says -32C, which means I will have to adjust it so I don't get a reboot as soon as it warms up under load.

My new sandra cpu score btw is now 10,768. The p4 over @ [h]
that they had @ 4.4 did 12xx mips as I recall.

I'm now up to 2880 and the prom doesn't seem to be able to cope with the voltage demands. Temps now are hovering around the -32c, which seems close to the limits of stability for sandra, and web surfing. Perhaps reseating the cooling head with an extra washer or two....perhaps I could file down the metal stands that fit in the socket. My best cpu run so far is 10,882 mips. Tomorrow I will tear it down and try for better cpu contact and perhaps re-adjust the chillcontrol. Seems I may be limited to sub 3ghz chip here.

Here are some for you at 2989 Mhz. When I had this chip on my KD7 I was running it at 3gigs plus, I must have taken some Sandra, I'll have to find some of those screenys If I have them.

EPOS and XP2700 at 229x13

Here you go, 3.06@3.92, HT enabled.

Nice benches there boys,

RootX..and OPP, some amazing benches there:slobber:

RootX, what does the CPU Sandra do without the HT enabled?

A 1processor Silicon Graphics Power Challenge with a 194 MHz Risc processor produces 10500Mips on average :) no point comparing MIPS performace to Risc CPUs, especially against the Sun UltraSparkIII 1Ghz CPU which scores around 53000 !!!!!!!!

Same setup, but HT disabled, per mike.elmes' request ;)

Very impressive,

Thanx for the screenie...the HT definately kicks butt for the p4.:)

3 Gigs of 1700+ power ;)

oh and I wouldnt count any HT enabled benches... Sandra totally over-estimates the score, practically doubling the 'performance'

Like OPP said, you can run higher on a KD7 for example than on the NF7 .. I think I could break 3100 MHz easy on a KD7 with this chip, loads at 3040 with the NF7

I still think HT sandra benches are worthless :D Either way, its a 60$ CPU versus several hundred $ CPU's :)

still, she had some more left in her this morning

Those are some very nice scores... But wouldnt it be hard to compare MIPS when there are different versions of Sandra??? The older Sandra will offer a higher score then the newer one :)

@colossus, I found the old sandra scores to be less than the 2003 sandra scores, at least with respect to the CPU Arithmetic:confused:

Got it from a local computer store here in Toronto. It's the same week and stepping as JC's 1700 that got 3GHz+

I'm using an Alpha Pal 8045 with a sunnon 80mm fan

I bought the chip at Filtech, on the southeast corner of College and Spadina almost a month ago.
