Okay the problem is that my 6600 gt says it can't find enough resources available in device manager. When I boot up it is in 4-bit color at 640 x 480. Really annoying, can't play games!!! I can't seem to manually set the resources used for anything so I don't know how to fix this other than reinstalling xp.. Can someone help me here!!

First if you have the AGP version did you remember to plug is the Molex power connector?
Second did you remember to install all of the Drivers?

Grab Knoppix and see if you can run it at 1280x1024.. if not it is the hardware, RMA it.. but if you can reformat your Harddrive..

I'd try that but I don't have knoppix.. But I've had this gfx card for 6 months running fine, changed my hardware around a little since then but been running fine.. Up until, I switched out my hard drive, put in a sata drive and install windows vista to it... vista said I had to disable a peice of hardware for it to have enough resources to run.. so I did and that worked, but switching back to my scsi drives running xp pro.. suddenly I have the same problem... disable all kinds of stuff and nothing seems to help?? doesn't make sense and why can't I set the resource settings manually??? the use automatic settings box can't be unchecked, the vga save says it is conflicting with the processor to agp, and the 6600 gt itself says it just doesn't have any resources available to it??? WTF is going on here??????

It is windows being retarded.. perhaps do to corruption caused by an overclock and an Unlocked SATA port...

no definetely not an unlocked sata port this was on SCSI drives and I'm positive the pci/agp lock is on.. but I solved this problem finally just broke down and reformatted, windows is just retarded sometimes... Don't even need to help it along. still wish I would have figured out the original cause though :(
