I plan to get a 2100+ Tbred-B on an Asus N8X DELUX, and I want to know if the proc will come unlocked or will I have to do something like the wire trick? Ive heard that the Tbred-Bs come unlocked, and not the Tbred-As, is this true? Regarding the mobo, I also heard that it will not automatically unlock the proc if it is indeed locked is this true as well? Thnx in advance :)

DrunKBunny, Welcome to Xtreme:cool:
Yes the tbred b's do come unlocked (basically Amd hasn't laser cut the bridges). I do think that you might have to do a certain bridge mod to enable the high/low reading of the chip for certain multipliers, but I'll leave that up to some others that know more about that. :)

nForce boards and KT 400's can use all of the multipliers on these chips. Other chipsets you have to unlock the processor

Please don't take this as a flame, but the language is confusing. You know what you mean and I know what you mean, but do others...esp those asking questions?? They could ask....
If the nForce and KT400 can reset ALL the multipliers on an unlocked (L1s closed) CPU, why do we have to unlock the already unlocked CPU on other chipsets??
Sounds like the problem on other chipsets is the other chipsets, esp since no problems with nForce & KT400.
Yes we do usually have to open or close the 5th L3 or the wire trick to get access to the "other" High or Low Multiplier range. But this actually "changes the default Multiplier" of the CPU, it doesn't "unlock" the CPU.
And if anything, "changing the default Multiplier" is a "workaround that fixes a deficiency/problem in that mobo", gets bios access to the "other" Multiplier range, not the default range we may not want.
So we'd say..."Other chipsets need a workaround or a mod to get bios access etc".....no confusion about unlocking an unlocked CPU.
