thinking of upgrading my graphics card from a x800xl to a 7900gt, the gt has come up at £199.99 over here, which is pretty good for a first price, but would it be worth waiting a little longer as the price might come down more?
Games I play generally are age of empires 3, counterstrike source, cod2, battle for middle earth 2. I only have a 17'' monitor currently so my res doesn't go above 1280x1024.

well the 7900GT is about equal to the 7800GTX.. so it should be something like

But the choice is yours... I would..

is a x1800xt 256mb for the same price a better alternative or worst?

the 7900gt I ordered seems to have evaporated from the website so cancelled my order and I'm not back to square one, however a 512mb x1800xt has shown up for £240 delivered, but there is a 7900gt 256mb available for £230 delivered or even a 7800gt "extreme edition" 256mb available for £185 delivered. What would be the best card to go for? Currently I run max of 1280x1024 on games (my monitors highest res) and I can't really afford to buy a new one right now.
So I assume the consensus is a 7900gt is the best purchase? I'm a bit of a ATI guy, but don't mind changing if its really neccersary.
I'll be playing battlefield 2, dungeons and dragons online, f.e.a.r and battle for middle earth 2 from now on mainly. Thanks!
