I'm trying 2 decide which way 2 go here...7900GTX or 1900XTX. Either way I want to OC the crap out of the card that I get and want the best gaming performance in UT, D3, Q4, etc. (everything cranked - HiRes)
I have an Asus A8N32-SLi with a Opty 170 under GOOD water and I'll add the GPU 2 the loop.
I know it sort of makes since to go with the 7900 seeing how I have an SLi board :slap: but I won't be buying a second 4 a while...like when SLi has grown out of it's infancy & I have another 600bux
Which card OC's better and more importantly, from which MANUFACTURER?

Well for UT The X1900XTX but for D3 the 7900GTX would be better..
so figure out which game you love more and then make a choice..
as for models.. HIS X1900XTX or XFX 7900GTX

I take it I'm not going to gain anything by buying one that is already OC'd either...
Spent months researching processor OCing, just starting to work on the graphics side :slap:

well already overclocked graphics cards mean that no matter what they will do that speed.. but they don't overclock as much because they are usually pushed close to their limits..

so you can save the $$, buy the base card and get as much if not more out of it - sweet!
It would prob b more fun to crank it myself anyway ;)

Well for UT The X1900XTX but for D3 the 7900GTX would be better..
because the ati handles aa and af better than the nvidia? :wierd:

UT is going to be CPU limited with either card, and in that case I'd go NVidia for their SuperSampling AA, which for NVidia goes to 8x vs 6x on the ATi cards.
D3, NVidia's pride and joy.
Quake 4 is the same case, same engine.
Let's not forget the upcoming QuakeWars!
Your best bet, for what you're asking, is the 7900GTX.
