Now now bro, lets play nice. They can have their stampede.

Even if they manage to offload 1 million points, that would only set us back, what, 10 days?

I look forward to the reasoning from DPC after they get passed.

"Oh, well we don't focus on any one project, it's not our full firepower. We could beat you if we all ran R@H."
"R@H isn't a real project. Come try to beat us in (insert project name here)."

Uhm... actually, yes we are adding production. For a month lot's of people at DPC leave their native project to help boost the chosen stampede-project. Besides people moving their boxen temporarily, there are some front-page postings on several sites, to help acquire new recruits, of which most of them stay afterwards.
Better yet: one of the stampede-rules is: it isn't allowed to do MegaFlushes during the stampede.

That is not true!

A stampede means that a LOT of DPC members turn off their project to come to one project, this time beeing Rosetta.

So we ARE adding production. You are mistaking this with a MegaFLush. That is saving up your points to unload them all at once :)

I believe you. I really do. The difference is that your production is temporary, as you said perhaps a month at most. Even if you do get a bit of added prodution permanently, you won't make up the 100k/day deficit you are running at currently. And remember, we are still ramping up production. We're just getting started in this project. We've only been crunching R@H for 2.5 months you know. ;)

We've been active a bit longer at Rosetta, I'll grand you that. It's an official DPC project for 4 months now. And I have to add that your production is quite impressive. :bows: Besides, I never said we would permanently stay in front of you, I was just putting things in perspective, as it occured to me that you guys had the wrong impression of what a stampede was. :)

That having said, let's see what the future will bring us both at the project. In the end it's the project (and hopefully us in return as well) that will benefit from all this. :toast:

We fully understand what a Stampede is all about.... all of DPC running one project for one month.

While I have respect for what DPC has contributed and has accomplished, just keep in mind that DPC is rounding up its members to focus on one project, R@H. You don't see XS R@H Team rounding up all the DIMEerS and the F@H players to try and catch up to your production. We are ahead in daily average and running you guys down at a rate that would make even the most steroid-pumped, meth-tweaked, gatorade-fueled, cracked out sprinter jealous.

I say to make it a more realistic 'stampede', XS gathers up all its DC players and we have our own little 'cookout' with all that beef that DPC brings :D

Sorry to say this DPC but if we are gonne make a member wars out of this XS will win because we got the most comps and the most ghz crunchingpower.

If we rally members and do it good (so not like the D2OL drive (which was a flop)) we can tripple our daily output in no time I reckon.

You guys must be desperate :P Asking DPC members to join XS :) Did we scare you?
Naw, we're like cheap sluts; we'll take anybody and ask anybody. :)

Last stampede (Find-a-Drug) was a bit of a disappointment. We just managed to do 4-5 times as much as normal, instead of the 8-10 we hoped for.

Yeah, I remember that one. Never could catch us ( I'm an XPC FaDder ). When the project shutdown you were all, like what, 412 days behind us? :)

Now let's see if I can get my 22 GHz of folding-power switched to R@H

I'm with DDTung. Maybe it is time to turn my retired SC farm back on. Get a little neutralization going. Or preemptive neutralization.

Man, I love this shiite!

In the short time I've known you I've learned one thing:
Anything you set your mind to gets done and gets done with style!;)
Yes, the million number may have been a bit off but it was more of a statement of what the consequences might be if they pissed you off than an actual number..
I'm older than you and these make-beleive wanna-be's got my blood up a long time ago..say about Christmas week and it's never come down.
If I had the financial resources I'd buy a warehouse and fill it with systems to trounce these clowns!

UW-marquette????

im guessing your talking about marquette, since they lost...and im happy they lost:) [see my location;) ]

and about all this DPC nonsense
trashtalk all you want, but ill warn you not to get to the point to where all of XS takes notice of this and the competitive spirit gets going, or we might end up doubling your little "stampede"

take a look around these forums in your spare time. we have members with the fastest systems in the world here. if we were to get just 25% of the forums overall computing power, its gonna be a sad month for DPC

here's to good competition:toast:

Little info about Gathering of Tweakers: we're not unknown to the idea's of overclocking in the extremes. But did you know there's over 150.000 registered names in there?
If you _want_ to brag about something, do it with something you _can_ brag about.:stick: :D

However, if you _are_ able to get 25% of your board to help you, and thus render our stampede useless against you, all the more respect!

Yes please shall we? But the difference with GoT (Gathering of Tweakers) is that GoT has a LOT of section going from graphics cards, to 3D to casemodding to overclocking to.... well lets just say a LOT (like I said I'm a GoT member and former cow from the TSC days. so I know a bit about DPC and a lot about GoT since I was a longtime member before I switched to Xs)

So I know the diversity that blooms in GoT. If you get 25% of GoT on it that will most likly come from the OC section and the 3D artists and the case modders/server freacks (such as I ). So GoT has more members but less interested members. We ont he other hand will draw people from :
D2OL
F@H if they can
Xtreme Bandwidth section
Xtreme OC section
Xtreme 3D section
Xtreme cooling section

so while you might have more people and more comps we can easily match the amount of comps because almost all our members have 2 or more comps... (hell I got 7 in my room right now with 3 running and one needing RAM and new case...)
plus I don't know if you remember from the D2OL soap with Gaol being under fire and DDTUNG for their massive outputs, but some of our big members (like DDTUNG, LBM (UCmajawski and Shmaa), XS The machine, XS VIP, Vietnam soldiers, and so on and so forth) have a LOT of comps under their flag. Ok LBM, The Machine, VIP, Vietnam etc are subgroups but still... I don't know how many comps LBM got so I won't speculate but lets presume it's a lot, I know VIP has got about... 30 comps I believe of which At least 10 DX's, some A 64's a few P4's this laptop and a few AXP's from back in the days also.
Vietnam soldiers, don't know exact but a LOT, same for the machine, and for a LOT of our members.

So could we please stop the smacktalking because thats not really helping our teams and just meet eachother on the Virtual Distributed Crunching Battlegrounds?

But be my guest to keep smacktalking if you want to fuel the fire more, oh please be my guest it'll make things very interesting :p: for both parties

1) You don't have anything I'd want. I got rid of my P2's back in the late 90's

Please, please, please tell me your not taking me to serious in here. It is just our standard taunting, which we more or less inherited from the old days with our 'fights' with KWSN! (the Knights Who Say Ni!). It is just to get a bit of friendly competition at the project during our stampede.

I don't know the history tbh, apart from there was a pause of a couple of months before XS started. So I've kind of missed the meteoric rise.

DPC seem to run about 10 projects; I don't know about XS members in general but I'm only running Rosetta. Is it more to do with XS people being more focused on a single project?

DPC used to run 1 or 2 project in the beginning (RC5), but because of FrontPage postings at our site (tweakers.net) DPC grew a lot, leading to a lot of members with different interests in DC. Other projects were sought, members joined different projects and DPC managed to grow even more. Today the DPC are one of the bigger (if not one of the biggest) communities in the DC world, competing with other teams like Free-DC, Ars Technica, Anandtech and some more.
Most members of DPC participate in only 1 project at the time, but there are a lot of subteams as well, who divide their total power over a couple of projects at the same time. One of those teams is Team Switch, who are quite famous in the DPC community, for they have enough power to compete with the big subteams within DPC, but (as their name suggests) switch quite regularly between the different projects (with the complete subteam at the same time), never staying much longer than a month or 2 at the same project.

Well, there's a bit of history and explaining how the DPC works in general. :)

Why do you guys keep thinking we're going to do massive dumping?
While it is true we love to do MegaFlushes (we nearly invented the term), I doubt it is really going to happen today. Maybe just a few will do a bit of dumping just to empty there buffers a bit, but for a stampede it's totally useless to do massive dumping all at once. If we want to do a MegaFlush, we'll organize one, but it won't happen during this stampede, I guess.
