Hey guys, i have a evga7800GS at 500/1580 and i love it. Well, shall i say loved it. Recently, as in the last day or so, all my games have been stuck at about 20 fps!!!!!!! this is horrible. I have had the card for a couple of weeks now and have been getting 160 fps on the css stress test with max everything at 1680x1050. Now i have freaking 30 or so!!! I can not for the love of me remember if i changed a crucial driver settings or anything, this crap just started happening.

And, sometimes ill open up a game and join a server; the fps is around 20 no surprise then all the sudden its like a switch was flicked and its back up again to normal levels. This is completely sporatic though and i have sometime been running around dust2 or wake island 2007 hoping that the fps limit with "click." sometimes i become happy, other times i dont. 90% of the time im not a happy man.

Its not like the overclock did it either. I have had it at 500/1550-1600 since about 3 days after i first got the card. I have no voltage mods on the card either.

The other day i was running beta 83.90's and lastnight i installed XG's 84.20's hoping they would fix the problem...........no luck , still the same thing. I "properly" uninstall and install my video drivers fyi. HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!

ps, all my games do this: bf2, cod2, css, all of them. I do enable vsync were i can but this is nothing new. And also, if the fps limit is "released" when im playing a game, then i could exit that game, go to any other, and the fps will be normal in that game also. So from this it seems like a system wide problem......

peace

Did you change the bios. Put everything at stock bios and settings then try. Try it with another Videocard if you have, in order to make sure its not the CPU.

What are your CPU temps? My setup had similar problem but was because CPu was throttling down because of heat during games.

after asking around 4 forums what you just said on the first post is what worked. lol, . It was i believe my memory timings. I had them a little too tight for my ram (1.5 gigs of gskill le's + value crap). Well anyways, the graphics card is up and running again at 500/1580. Im a happy camper.

however, i just noticed something. In bf2 my fps is great with pretty much full everything, however in the cs:s stresstest it is stuck at 60 now, lol. It looks like something is limiting it bc it will never ever go below 59 and it looks like its trying to push up but cant for some limiting reason. And yes, fps_max is at 300 or so. The cs:s test used to be in the 100's...........whatever, the human eye cant tell anything beyond 60 or so right?

a) Is vsync on? If it is, you can use reforce or some other refresh rate program to force certain rates at given resolutions.
b) The 60fps thing is a large misconception. There are quite a few articles on that if you feel like googling.
