My friend has given me his Sparkle 6600GT to fix (because my X800XL died). I've tried doing all the usual stuff, but the 6600GT remains screwed up.
I've narrowed it down to two possibilities, either its a screwed up BIOS or some transistors inside have died (or become sluggish). So, I'm going to try and flash the BIOS.
So.. the problem. I've downloaded NVFlash, but it doesn't work in dos emulation (WinXp). Is there some sort of windows program I can use to flash it?

Anyone? I really need some help with this.
I have been able to dump the BIOS from the 6600GT. I checked the dump with NiBiTor, and its currupt (according to NiBiTor and a quick look at the settings). It doesn't have the memory timings present, at all. Everest shows that its running at 300/300 instead of 500/500. I've checked the 6600GT PCI-E Sapphire BIOS from MVKtech.net, and its fine according to NiBiTor.
I've gotten WFFLASH.exe, NVFLASH.exe, VGABIOS.exe. NVflash doens't work in windows, or in DOS emulation. WFFLASH and VGABIOS can't find the 6600GT, despite being run on it.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Update: I got WFFLASH working in DOS, but an error saying that it can't write to adress 0000 Data e8 comes up. NVflash still refuses to work though, saying that it finds an unsupported adapter or something.
Not suprisingly, the BIOS is dated 1676/1613/939.
Ok, NVflash recognizes the 6600GT, but it won't flash it because it is 'unconfigured', afterwhich nvflash reports that there are no nvidia adapters.

Please, can someone help? All I need is to erase the BIOS on the video card, but nvflash just doesn't want to co-operate. I've searched on google, numerous people with the same problem, but no solutions. Doesn't anyone know how to force it to flash regardless of everything? Or maybe some sort of short-circuit trick that just blanks the EEPROM entirely?

nvflash v5.13 and your original backup origbios.rom bios should be on your blind recovery floppy, and the autoexec.bat file should include the command nvflash -4 -5 -6 -A origbios.rom
OR this is whats going on when you enter that command =nvflash -4 -5 -6
Flash the bios in DOS using nvflash.exe v5.13
nvflash -r (removes any protection)
nvflash -b ORIGBIOS.ROM (saves original bios)
nvflash -4 -5 -6 BIOSNAME.ROM (flash new bios file)
the -4 -5 -6 command switches will force a flash regardless of any ID mismatches, so always just select to continue.
