7900gt Overclocked = 7800gtx 512!

Tell me that I am missing something. Aren't they scores higher for the 7900gt when overclocked? The version of the 7900gt they have is running 550/1620.

thats normal , we alredy saw taht 7900GT in default have 4550 marks in 3dmark 2006 and 7800GTX 512mb have 4700marks , so 7900GT overcloked easly get the 7800GTX 512mb(Default)

The 7800GTX 512 basically has 100 Mhz faster RAM and 512MBs. That 7900GT is crazy deal. I might get one myself

In most of the test 7900GT is in par with 7800GTX, not with 7800GTX 512MB.

I haven't heard of one 7900gt NOT reaching 7800GTX 512mb clocks though, with a pencil mod it'll probably hit 7900GTX core speeds, considering the only difference is 0.2v on the core and pcbs and the ram.

The 7900GT beats the 7800GTX
7900GT is 450/660 while 7800GTX is 430/600

And the overclocked 7900GTs really beat the 7800GTX.
We're talking like 560/775 versus 430/600...

Same pipes and everything, not to mention 7900 series is 90nm and cooler.

I don't know if or when a BIOS mod will be possible, but if you can get the core to 1.5v on the 7900gt that alone should get it up to 7800gtx 512 speeds for sure. I doubt it matches gtx 512 with out some sort of mod. Possibly a handfull will manage it. I think the 7900gt is going to be an extremely hot seller though. I really want to see some SLI 7900gt benches. 2 modded 7900gts in SLI may be a realistic upgrade from my xtx.

It does 550 on stock VCore dave... You don't need anything close to 1.5V to hit 550, try 1.2V.

Shamino hit 7800GTX 512 speeds on stock cooling with stock vcore.
