I never thought my first post here would be asking for some serious help!!! I have been posting on other forums but that was a waste of time - I should have just come to the best in the first place!!!:slap:

I flashed my GTO2 with a bad bios and now my computer doesn't even know that it's in the PCIe slot. I am booting with an old PCI card, I have used "ATIFLASH", "FLASHROM", and even "WINFLASH". When I use the "-i" command, I only see the PCI card as "adapter 0". Using the "-f" force flash command does nothing. I have also attempted to flash the "non existent adapter 1". I get 'Error: 0FL01" "Adapter not found".

Short of unsoldering the EEPROM and manualy flashing it, I think I have tried everything... PLEASE TELL ME I'M WRONG!!!

tried giving the PC a few minutes to POST?

I flashed by 9700pro to a 9800xt once, had to wait about 2-3 mins before it gave me a screen and then there was corruption too.. flashed to a diff bios and all was fine.

Try blind flashing without the PCI card?

Hehe, sry to hear that!
I flashed a 7800GTX Go laptop with bad bios... there was no info on the bios lol. And when i rebooted there was nothing... i mean hdd wasnt going anywhere... nothing could be done!
RMA-d the laptop and that was it basicly..

STEvil,

What does POST mean? I have left the computer on for a little while with only the GTO2 in, and nothing happens. The chipset fan revs up like crazy and never slows down, and the hard drive never boots.

Did you have the same problem where the flashing software (atiflash, flashrom) didn't see your vid card?

I'll try this when I get home from work.

did you back up your old bios? if so you should be able to place it on a floppy and do a blind flash.

looks like I'm having the same problem with my X1900XT, the problem is that we cant just flash back to the original BIOS because the flash utilities dont detect the presence of a card for them to flash. Thus a BIOS flash program where we can tell it to flash device X regardless of what it thinks device X is is whats needed.

Well at least there seems to be someone else that can share in my frustration (although my card cost about half what you paid). Hopefully the two of us will be better able to find a cure.

My next step is to contact ATI and ask if they have EEPROMS that can be bought.

blind flash with the modded flashrom worked for me

the flash programs saw my card fine, and by POST I mean "Power On Self Test"

Basically its the screens you get at first where you see the CPU/mobo/hdd's etc.. mine took a few minutes to show that with the bad bios.

use flashrom16 and a non-ati pci card

I am using an ATI 7000 as my PCI adapter! I guess I'll have to go buy an old matrox or something. And why flashrom16 specifically... not that I'm saying it won't work -> just curious.
