Hi, all,
I don't know if this help any more FSB during your overclock.
However, it is worth to recommand to some oc freaks like you guys here.
This cooler is by far the best NB cooler that I have never seen before,
I tried it on the RDX200 and NF4 series boards, it just fit whatever the angle you
like to. Now it 's not available in US yet, but soon it will be.(could be introduce by TT)
Let's see the cooler:

it's "heat-pipe well designed

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler01 .jpg

he whole package:

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler04 .jpg

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler06 .jpg

from the 1st pic and now you can see that it can be twist any angle to fit your or board's need:

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler02 .jpg

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler05 .jpg

how about the base lapping job?

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler03 .jpg

the cover also can be taken out and clean;)

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler07 .jpg

install on the RDX 200 CF-DR board, some angles;) just never block anything

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler08 .jpg

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler09 .jpg

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler10 .jpg

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler11 .jpg

Now let's look at the real bench monitor on that. let see the temp on full operation

during the dual super pi calculation:

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler12 .jpg

http://www.ocxtreme.org/onepagebook/starfishnbcooler/starfishnbcooler13 .jpg

Well I can't say that's perfectly the one you gotta replace your original NB heatsink,
but if this cooler can give you the ideal temperature you need, why not?
Stephen will have his own perspective on this cooler. Let's also wait for his result.;)

Thank you for reading.

Just about the same results, it doesn't beat my nb-1c, but is far lighter and more compatible with most motherboards. Very pleased with the performance. I have an arctic silencer, so the fan isn't even needed because the heatsink is right below the intake fan.

Woot!

Nice review OPB looks like a pretty decent chipset cooler
I'm using the stock heatsink AS5ed and it still breaks 41c full load.

Hells ya! I like the looks but the price is waaaaaay out there for a chipset cooler especiasly when you can get the evercool so cheap.....

I still like that jobber that one fella did by chopping out the center of a Freezer 64 and mouting that on his NB. Freezer 64 is only like $25-30 too. Just that cutting thru all those fins is gonna require some sweet hack sawing and then you gotta tap out the base. But man that was a sweet cooler he made lol

Can I get this to fit my Ultra-D? And will it run passive?

Nice review Kev :toast: Just to let everyone know I will also be reviewing one of these coolers fairly soon but do not expect as many photos as OPB. I am a horrible photographer.

I have tons of pictures of it mounted on my DFI NF4 Ultra D, but havn't had time to upload them. This is the only one I have atm. It might perform better mounted a diffrent way, not sure. This is the only way I could mount it without interfering with anything.

I'm just wondering if 2 of these would fit on an A8N32. The clearance on the northbridge is very tight with a water block installed. I haven't found anything that will fit yet.

BTW, it's in a Lian Li V2000 so anything will be better than the stock heatpipe with 2 noisy fans blowing on them.

I have mine setup differently, but I am in 'btx mode' (PC-V1000). Given How you are going to end up in teh case, I would see if you can get the fan on the other side blowing upward (why fight convection :D ). Otherwise looks just fine. I slapped some leftover AS3 on the heatpipe for good measure.

Spent the day doing another PA160 shoehorn job, now all my PCs have PA160 D5/mcp655, storms (2G4 + 1 G5) and various fans. Leak-testing this one overnite :D

Will load this one up tomorrow w/ a VPMW, will see what the temps are on everything then. IHS is off and core is lapped, been getting a 3-5c drop so I think it's helping (I'm typing on the other one - rosetta @ 290x10, ~1.45Vcore CPU/PWM is 38-39c, chipset is 41c (orig DFI cooler)).

I think that heatsink in combo with cross flow fan ( for CM stacker users) can get even lower temps. I need one for the combo :D

I got it last thurs from Performance-Pcs.com. Ordered it thurs and had it express USPS delivered, arrived sat.

My x800gto2 fits in the 1st pci-e slot perfectly fine. The base of the coolers is thin enough that the card does not hit it when inserted. I'll have more pics up soon, maybe later today.

Here is where I bought mine from. It is labeled as both Chip Force and Jing Ting. I'm assuming chip force is selling it in the US for Jing Ting.

Fan is not powerful enough to make a difference, and temps > 43c.

For comparison: new Swifty CU sink on my wife's puter (copper pins bend VERY nicely out of the way of the card :D ) upstairs (~ 4c warmer :D ) is 41c TOTALLY PASSIVE and in closed case.

Got a swifty chipset WC block, will play w/ that over the weekend.

Why are you guys interested? Doesn't do anything for the overclock.

Hell, I had the NB heatsink fall off on me and the system remained compeletely stable for a week. Temps close to 70, I think.

Well you are really lucky then...just a few weeks ago my friend had a floppy power connector fall into his NB heatsink and stop the fan from spinning on his ultra-d...didn't notice it for a while, and was getting weird errors all over the place and couldn't figure it out...then it wouldn't post...mobo = fried... we tried everything to revive it but it was a no go...so nb cooling is DEF. important...

Now whether or not it gives you more HTT or fsb is a different story...if it does...its very minimal imo, but then again...every fsb counts right!

How is the compatability with a DFI Nf3 (754) ?

Might snag this for some benches with my Turion, before I get a __________ (next gen) board.... hehe

Yes it will but you many not be able to access a few sata ports.

Im with Wes, its a great sink.

He has it mounted in the 2 Oclock position, I took the fan off, mounted it in the 11 Oclock position instead. My CPU fan gives plenty of air flow past it.

I made a small floppy/4pinMolex adapter that is plugged in before installing the JingTing. Once it's screwed down you cant get at the 4pin plug hole. No biggy, cleans up the wiring anyway.

I end up with idle 40-41C and load 46-47C this way. On my DFI NF4 SLI-DR, and it sits nicely behind my X1900XT without any interference issues, and my SATA connectors are clear in the 11 Oclock position, I use them.
