x2 4400 @ 2500
Asus A8N SLi
7800GT
Gskill 4000 @ 250 (stock) 2GB Kit

Yesterday my computer was starting to give me some crazy reading. My computer displayed the speeds og 29.65 GHZ. CPU-z was reading 29650MHZ, so was system information utility. cpu-z would not give me reading on memory. After a shutdown not reboot, because reboot did nothing i was still getting the same readings, then the problem was solved. I was getting correct readings --I have screenshoots that I will upload later proving this x-file phenomenon. Well now i have a slight problem I defaultet my bios (loaded all default settings) and bootit it up and it reads 2.2 ghz and memory at 400mhz. Ran a memtest over night on LOWER THEN STOCK SETTINGS (400 vs 500mhz) and it passes 10times no problem.STANDARD. when I wanted to go to my old settings it would not let me. I can set my FSB 250 and multi at 10 my hyper at 4x you know the standard, I have done it before and my cpu goes to 2.5 ghx but my memory runs at 166mhz. automtaicly divides its self I try to set it manualy and same thing it will not go by the settings that I give. It will not run above 200MHZ fsb. I am wondering and think It's my CPU!!!! Memory controller fail? OR NOT. Could be my memory failed. I just want some opinions before I RMA my memory I already requested approval for exchange. I tried running cs:source when my readings were 29650mhz and you bettter believe it I am getting readings of 299FPS but everything in slo-motion HAHAH. It was the wildest experience. HURRY WITH SOME answers I need this rig fixed ASAP. Thanks

Wow, weird, upload those pics soon :slobber: fastest CPU ever :D

Anyway I don't think it's your RAM. Or the CPU for that matter, try updating the BIOS and clearing the CMOS on your board

I should have tried to get it verified by cpu-z and show it as a world record HAHAHA

Yeah I honestly think your board is fuxxored, try a BIOS flash, CMOS clear etc and if that doesn't work the first thing to go back IMO should be the motherboard

Man I just flashed my mobo with newest bios and did a cmos reset and NADA. My memory will not run over ddr400. Anybody else think it's my mobo!!

First get that registered and deny the speed title from Intel for years..
secondly.. reinstall your OS and update your Bios
PS 500mhz isn't stock for AMD, 200mhz(also called DDR-400) is

Well since I have Gskill 4000 ddr 500 it makes it stock speed for the memory. That's what I ment

Yeah, whatever the problem is it's definetly not the RAM. So please don't go sending that back when you don't have to

See if anyone else confirms that the MB is most likely the problem

I just raised fsb to 215 and ram fired fine it was running 1:1. I went up to 230 and ram ran at 180? thats what cpu-z was reading. so it is obvious that ram is picky about settings ya?

No I think it is the ASUS board but please would you please varify it on CPUz for us and post a link..

verify what?

at the back of CPUz there is a button that say Validate..
if it works you will hold the new world record..
and just upload it.. Please do that for AMD

My readings are gone kapish. I loaded default settings! Nevertheless I did try verifying it with cpu -z and it did verify OK!?, but it said something getting it in the mail which I never received.

EDIT
I think that was my ID.
How else to verify it?
I have screenshots up there, when this occured. It is not possible for a chip to run that high so why are you insisting on some sort of validation!
