As it gets closer to my new rig upgrade more and more questions arise. Thankfully I have XS to guide me in this decisim making proccese. I have pretty much narrowed it down to 2 cards:

the gs would not be in my price range because i am already short $60 for my new upgrade. Also i am going to get something kick ass like an 8000 gt or whatever next christmas so i do not want spend more than 120.
As for my monitor and cpu i am going to get a X2 3800+ and a 17 inch samsung monitor

well the closest Card that is nVidia that is in your price range is the 6600GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150098
which is a major step down..
you can do it but I strongly advise against it..

ok i know im gonna sound like a noob but what do u mean by "unlock" is it like overclocking???

unlock means being able to use pipelines that you aren't expected to use.. The X800GTO is 12 pixel pipelines at stock (in constrast with the 8 for the 6600GT) but most GTOs can unlock to 16 pixel Pipelines thus giving you a very healthy performance boost and even if it doesn't unlock.. it is still a superior card..

Yup, I flashed my x800 pro to x800 XT PE, it was stock 12 pipes are 475/450, x800 XT PE is 520/560 @ 16 pipes, gave me nearly a 1100 point boost in 3d mark 05

ok i just read a review of that card in CPU magazine and they suggested unlocking the card to and gave it a very hi rating, so i have decided to go with that
card.
