View Full Version : Something very fishy about this one

First off to get 12800 measured integer speed you need 3.0 gig + dual core. Second in order to get 14400+ floating point speed you need a miracle. 3rd to get the same score on 4 diff rigs you need to be like the best techy ever.

Those are merged comps I think. Not sure cause it says only 2 cpus.

Merged comps have a low bench score and a high average credit.........thats how you can tell which comps are merged and which arent on the top computers page 1..........

Hmmmm, very interesting...whose computers are those?

Heres's an example of merged computers. In fact this is anonymous's #1 rank of all pc's http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/show_host_detail.php?hostid=172517 Note the low bench score yet high recent average credit. this is how you can discern single real pc's in the top ranks and merged pc's in the top ranks.

Get off the merged computers....there is DEFINITELY something else going on here.........look at the created dates and the production. Created ~36 hours ago, already done 84k. With those 'benchmarks,' he should still 'only' get 2600 daily.

a flaw in rosetta..Just happenned into it myself..formatted my dothan, reinstalled rosy, merged with my "old" install on the same machine and shows created today but with 4700+ points..

Yah thats what im trying to say vapor....definitely not merged comps. Funny his buddy on his team is all of a sudden in the top 10 Pc's and has his computers hidden.....Seems very odd. I'm not going to say its a cheat yet as I don't like to assume but with those bench scores that far off from being realistic........Even if it was merged which i doubt it still only shows the bench score from the PC thats listed. it doesnt merge all the benches together......

That may explain away the credits.... BUT, it doesn't explain why all the pcs have such HIGH benchmarks and are ALL SO CLOSE in those benchmarks.

Me thinks someone has found an exploit...

Okay...so we can *kinda* eliminate the amazing short-term production, but the benchmark scores still lead to suspicion unto themselves and, IMO, the production.

Moving so quickly into the top 10 isn't very feasible, not without having a SERIOUSLY better system than everyone else (just the way rosy calculates recent average production). Anybody know Italian?

Anybody know of any other tweaks to replicate these scores? This is all so very weird and if nothing else deserves a 'formal investigation'

EDIT: I'm with you dicedealer....this is an exploit of some sort....I think I have an idea as to what it is.

MUCH easier than timescaling windows....don't even know how to do that.

EDIT: this is going into the lounge.....don't want this publicized before its fixed.

So now that you know what it is how do we go about handling it as obviously its some form of cheating then and im betting the hidden pc's on that team may be using the same exploit. thus the reason for being hidden.

For all those interested and capable, I have started a discussion at the link below in regards to getting this fixed. http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=91414

EDIT: okay, I know I said discussion, but considering the implications of this cheat....it'll be a discussion no more. :slap:

Yes, I agree with you..I just wanted to point out what I saw myself today..
You look at this team and..well, lets just saw something doesn't look quite right..and the top guy on the team "appeared" steady on the daily top 10 of Rosy this past week.

access denied..sniffle-sniffle..

I *still* can't see the lounge section (Rod are you ever going to sort that out? :p:) but it's extremely easy to fake your benchmarks using [edited to minimize exploitation :p:].

Okay....for those of you that can't see the lounge, sorry. I'm not going to PM it to anybody either....in fact, once the big dogs see it and recognize it, I'm editing my post where I tell all. This needs as little exposure as possible.

Edited my post above, so as not to give anyone ideas, however the exploit I was talking about is well known to R@H admin already.

Someone post this at the Rosetta forum fast. Vapor, I would re-install rosetta on that rig after all is settled so some team dont think we're cheating also. Anyone know how some of those new sparc CPU's do @ rosetta? That was my guess after I posted my though

have another look at the thread in D2OL.

To undo the cheat, all I need to do is rerun the benchmark (should score 2k/3.5k at the most, lol)....it's currently disconnected from the internet and I'll rerun the benchmark before I leave tomorrow (and subsequently reconnect it to the internet).

I think this thread should be deleted, if people know theres an exploit they will look for it, just e-mail the admins with your findings and hopefully we can get this sorted.
