I've checked this
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=84660
and found this :
"Rosetta@home needs your help to determine the 3-dimensional shapes of proteins in research that may ultimately lead to finding cures for some major human diseases. By running the Rosetta program on your computer while you don't need it you will help us speed up and extend our research in ways we couldn't possibly attempt without your help. You will also be helping our efforts at designing new proteins to fight diseases such as HIV, Malaria, Cancer, and Alzheimer's"
That sounds nice ;)
Also, BIONC is :
(Windows) 5.2.13 Recommended version
(Linux) 5.2.13 Recommended version
On there :
http://www.guntec.de/Crunch3r/boincx86.html
i found :
(Windows)
Boinc 5.2.13 Windows SSE2
Boinc 5.2.13 Windows SSE
(Linux)
Boinc 5.2.14 P3/AthlonXP SSE
Boinc 5.2.14 P4/Athlon64 SSE2
Boinc 5.3.6 64 bit SSE2 (10/02/2006)
Is there any optimised BOINC version for SSE3 or 3D!Now ??
Have someone tested the 64 bit client (Linux) ??
(Is there a big improvement in performance, should be...:)
How is organized the ranking system??
How does Rosetta trully works....
(How do you share the load between a so wide variety of threads....How is it gathered back?????.... )
What is the recommend system/use ?
I'd like to build a rig based on a Via Epia, connected 24/24 (and used to surf on the Web only...and Rosetta)
Or at least, a low consumption rig....based on a Ce / Pentium M (CT-479) or a turion (Socket 754..even Dual-Cores Turions ???)
Last little question about faith ??
How far are you engaged (or linked :) ) to this great project ??
Thanks
