any clear way to keep this cool? I put AS5 and afte a week it dried up. Temps were in the 50C range. I believe if you can keep this cool, you should be more stable in OC. <2 red 5 green metallic squares>

thanks for the headsup
Ok I want this. I have been inquiring about a heatsink bridge for sometime now. I didn't know anyone made them yet. About time!!! :woot:
Oh, Ok they call them Mosfet coolers...
mosfet coolers (http://www.alphacool.de/xt/index.php?cPath=5_18_287)
ATI Mosfet Cooler (http://www.alphacool.de/xt/product_info.php?products_id=3780&cPath=5_18_291)

ok, my apology it looks like systool is reading the Vregs...I thought it read temps for the mosfets. So I take it I need to find a way to keep the Vregs cooler then 50C. Anyone use systool from techpowerup?
Edit this would be great if I had a 7800 GTX and a water cooler:slapass:

theres an excellent example of some custom work someone did for this.
but don't bother PM'ing this guy.
seems he's getting bombed with people wanting these, and has pretty much just disappeared...
can't say I blame him, he was just showing off his work, now people won't leave him alone.

^^Yes, excellent work indeed. If he patten it, start up his own business and make them he would make a killing at $30 a pop with low overhead and some help. Man, what a missed opportunity to help the community and put a little cash in his pocket at the same time. So sad...:( :(

Ok, I figured out my problem. No air flow. I thought the front intake fan was flowing air into the VC but when I put my hand there....nada. So I put a new fan up and temps have reduced down to 45C. Not bad, thats a 5C drop

This guy mentioned he would make them for people and then he never responded to any pms and just ignored the thread... That's a jerk in my book.

^^im sure it would seeing how that looks like a waterblock for it, should be better than stock.

Well all you really need is a good air flow. Under load on 3dmark06 I hit a high of 50C and a low of 47C on the mosfets

this snap shot doesn't show the pop up screen loading the next 3d06 bench.

I can't be the only one that needs a fan under those mosfets and vregs but don't know how to modify the case to do it. I was browsin along and found this handy device that just might work. I am thinking of buying it to see if it will cool that portion of the VC better then how I have it now.

i just sit a 120mm fan at the bottom of my case and it blows over the ramsinks, vreg, and chipset fan. Keeps em all nice and cool.

I read a post by houserate (sp) who suggested that we maybe using way to much voltage when overclocking. I did some subjective testing, here are the results...
X1900xtx
P5WD2-E Prem
660 3.6 OC to 4.2
X-Fi Platnium
PC Power and Cooling 510 Express/SLI
*120MM Fan on Vregs and Mosfets (with copper heatsink...results will very)
ATI TOOL OC to 711/810 that's only 11MHz on core and 10 MHZ Mem higher then CCC Overdrive
During the initial OC at 1.40/2.160/2.160 the Vreg reached as high as 58C.
During the recent OC @ 1.35/2.130/2.130 the Vreg reached as high as 55C.
It appears that the lower voltage increased HDR/SM 3.0 scores. This is subjective opinion.
Ok here is what happens when I reduce:
VGPU from 1.40 to 1.35
MVDDC/MVDDQ from 2.160 to 2.130
Score on 3DMARK06 5791 (again, subjective however, this is with a lower voltage regardless if its only a 3 mark gain from 5789). This would sugges that we are playing a juggling act with heat and voltage not with the core and mem but with the mosfets and vregs!!! If you water cool you need some serious cooling for those vregs/mosfets! If you do it's possible to see an nice bump using the same core/mem OC's!
ATI Vreg water cooler. (http://www.alphacool.de/xt/product_info.php?products_id=3780&cPath=5_18_291) <--This is the only water cooled solution I that was given to me that I know of to date. Any suggestions is appreacited.
Currently this is what I am working with:
5791 on 3D06
3DMark Score........5791 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score..........2527
HDR/SM3.0 Score...2901
CPU Score..............1266 (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=162681)
5789 on 3D06
3DMark Score........5789 3DMarks
SM2.0 Score..........2526
HDR/SM3.0 Score...2898
CPU Score..............1267 (http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=162633)

Voltage changes will not increase or decrease scores. Your results are well within the margin of error for the benchmark programs.
