Just got the card and you're already looking to make it bleed, heh mate? :)
There you go Bogdan, here's the thread about the PE BIOS : http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=82816.

Haven't heard of dead cards too. Which leads to the question how much vpgpu the cards can handle.

exactly. The PE bios gives less voltage on default then some users put through there manually so I see no reason why the card should have any issues. I have sold my card flashed to a friend for my current X1900 and he is very happy with the card running just fine even today, 2 months after I flashed it.

its overclocking... nothings ever 100% safe.
you take your chances just like the rest of us, or stick with stock.
only way to stay safe is stock, with your warranty still intact. ;)

:) We have one serie of Sapphire X1800XT PE (15 pcs) and ALL of them are RMA! color stripes over monitor in one week using. My 2 HIS X1800XT are RMA too after flashing XT PE, color stripes too. Now i have 2x X1900XT.

weird how this is coming up now but not too original flashers. Perhaps early adopters of the card had a better chance. Maybe newer cards have something changed that doesn't hold so well to the flash.

Now i have 2x X1900XT. Then I have to doubt your understanding of flashing video cards...the process is practically foolproof. If the flash doesn't happen, the card merely reverts to its old bios. Also, the bios is for BBA cards, so its up to the user to see if their cards are made by Sapphire.

You tried to put PCI card, and reflash bios?
Perkam and all> I flashed X1800XT with PE bios by WinFlash, one week was everything OK, but after this week card was faulty, color stripes over monitor, then i flashed back original BIOS and color stripes are still on card with original BIOS. Card went to RMA and i got X1900XT. Every Sapphire X1800XT PE (original PE not flashed) which we bought are back with color stripes. Maybe power supply of card are unsufficient.

Are the colour stripes similar to these ones in my one of my previous posts in the Asus A8N32-SLI thread here (http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showpost.php?p=1296301&postcount=1308)? :(
I'm just wondering as my card has been flashed to XT PE BIOS too.

Yes, something like this, but on my flashed card i had more stripes than you.

If you do kill it, what is to stop you using a PCI card and just reflashing perhaps with a force flash if the card is really fubar?

I think it was mentioned that even flashing back does not solve this problem. Any damage that supposedly occurs is now permanant.

Sorry, you misunderstood me, I wasn't very clear - if you flash it and the flash goes wrong (not the stripey lines) so you cannot boot with the card in, can you just flash using a pci card to get the corrupt BIOS back working again?

ah yes, that is correct, you should be able to boot from a pci card and flash again np. I have not heard of a failed flash yet however though it is at your own risk. going to give a try?

No, probably not.... I've only just ordered an X1800XT 512MB for a really knockdown price :D (Go OcUK) and I don't want to kill it and invalidate warranty. TBH, £258 is not to be taken lightly (especially not as a student!) :p.
