Noticed the same noise before when I had my X800XL. It's not loud, very slight, but it would crop up in certain situations in different games. Such as BF2 at the multiplayer server list page. Just wondering if anyone else noticed it too.

Umm....is it recurring with your XTX?

Yea, it appear so. Although it's not a big deal because I can't really hear it unless I try to listen for it. I do want to pin point the cause for it. I am sorta leading to conclude that it's due to the PSU.

It may be because of the motor in the cards. It happened on your X800XL for the same reason...the stock heatsink. One of the features listed for the ATI Silencer was "Clicking Noise Solution" which even mentions that the clicking noise comes from the motor. So yea, the problem exists...might i suggest an after market cooler :)

Actually I water cooled both cards, so the stock fan was taken off.

i have the x700 pro and my friend has x800 xl and i have never heard these noises. although hen he added the thermaltake water cooling his x800 xl lcicked but goes to black screen (prob. due to water leak) other than that i have no idea, i have had a clicking sound before, when i needed a bigger psu.

so your saying the cards were producing the noises when there were no moving parts on them?

my guess is its not the cards, its a power related issue, due to the coils on the mainboard or psu, this produces a slight clicking or sometimes a 'squeeling' sound when close to full power
