My computer is as follows:
A8N-SLI Deluxe
X2 3800
2x512 Corsair PC 3200
TT Pure Power 680W
Audigy 2 ZS
Seagate 250 SATA
PCI-E XFX 6800GT
TT Shark
XP SP2 Home edition

Heres the problem, whenever I'm playing games such as Counter Strike Source or BF2 my motherboard makes random beeps. They are usually very short in length and occur at seemingly random intervals. Sometimes however, I'll have about 7 or 8 in a row, although usually it's just 1 or 2. I have not been able to link reduced performance or overheating with these beeps, and the only real problem is they're annoying. They usually don't happen until I've been playing for thirty minutes or so. The games rarely crash, and when they have I haven't been able to link them to the beeps. I have run memtest 86 for 17 hours without any errors, so I doubt it's the ram. What do you think is causing these beeps? Do I have anything to worry about?

beeping can occur like this if you're pressing more than 3 keys at once on most standard keyboards. its nothing to worry about, if you don't want it to beep don't press more than 3 keys at once...

hmm that is a possibility. There are times when you press several keys at once during games. I'll test it. for now, any other theories?

i know if you have the thermal alarm on your motherboard enabled if it goes past the tempature threshold, it will start to beep at you.. its a long shot and i bet its the keyboard, but this is a theory

I tested it, and it's the keyboard. Thanks for the help! Although, is there anyway to disable it?

The only answer there is to buy a better keyboard.

Most cheap ones can only handle 2-key or 3-key rollover. Good ones have in their specs "n-key rollover", so they're the ones to look out for.

Ah-HA! Now that *is* interesting. It could be that the culprit isn't the keyboard after all, but the serial peripheral chip that looks after the keyboard port. Are you using PS/2 or USB for the keyboard?

As said before, 3 keys+ creates problems in some games, and in rare occasions you can interfere with the shortcuts.

You could alter the key setup you have in the game to avoid it.

USB keyboard shouldn't do this.

trust me, older keyboards are way better than new ones. Mine cost me 2 bucks, some IBM thang. Handles up to 7 keys depending on the combination. PS/2 or USB or anything else.. all bull. It's just the keyboard.
