hmm.. but the x1900xtx still "works" other than artifacts, right?

sounds fun to play with and try to fix ;)

When I last checked, the 1900 wasn't showing any signs of life but my x850xtpe still boots, but artifacts likes crazy....any suggestions on where to check?

condensation under the BGA memory chips....
Never had that problem at all with the x850xtpe when it was mounted to the Baker - I have a feeling it's something else.....

What do the artifacts look like? Could be some sort of PCB damage...killed an X800XT PE myself after seemingly bending it too much. Well, not totally killed, it's fully functional with massive artifacting.

I am quite suprised to see taht it took 1.55v to get 3300mhz on your cooling. GL on getting the card back to life.

could be condensation under the GPU.

It could be, but I'm thinking it may not be likely as the card definately acts as if something that has to do with the memory is borked - plus a 3.3V VDDQ reading should be an indication that it isn't a prob with the GPU ;)

I think anyone shooting for the top has experienced this kind of thing, I know I've lost some good stuff myself and most hardcore guys can tell you similar stories. You'll have better luck next time I'm sure :)QFT:) :(

Sorry to hear that Stephen:( ...Thats a lot of ware.

Looks as if this thread's gonna make an abrupt stop right here.....This 1900xtx has caused me nothing but grief ever since I got it.....Let's review, shall we? :

Got the xtx and tried to get it running with the Opty 154 with no luck. Result: WR s939 Opteron DEAD
In an attempt to boot the 154, I installed the cpu in my daily rig. Result: Fried memory IC on my SLI-D
Now, the XTX is artifacting in when booted so I installed my x850 in the mobo to see if the 1900 may be borked. Result: Most likely x1900xtx DEAD
Turns out that the mobo isn't detecting any pcie cards correctly. Result: Rev. AD0 Ultra-D DEAD
Moved the x850 to my Expert board only to find out that there was some sort of short caused by my bad Ultra-D which gave me a 3.3V reading on the VDDQ. Result: WR x850xtpe DEAD
Add to this the fact that I killed an 0512 FX57 just a couple weeks ago and I'd say I've cleared a few thousand dollars worth of HW in the last 2 weeks (not to mention that a couple of those items are irreplaceable). This is gonna be quite a hole to dig myself out of.....:(

I thought it was the x850xt that gave the wrong vddq readings?

It is...that's why I'm still holding out a bit of hope for the 1900xtx
