Just found very interesting article on overclockers.ru/privatelogs (http://people.overclockers.ru/Allert/record16)

Too bad no pics but here`s the main part:

6800 vanilla and 6800GS in SLI
NV41+NV42.

3D Mark `03 gained only 700 points with this mod and achieved total of 16800.

Here`s how it was made:

install 6800GS in [i]1st pci-e[i] slot ;
install drivers (81.95 or newer) ;
start RivaTuner and force "Use ROM straps for PCI programming" ;

http://images.people.overclockers.ru/59345.jpg

restart - drivers will find new device 6800 a.k.a 6800GS :D ;
power off - insert 6800 vanilla and connect both with SLI bridge.
restart and go to driver bookmark with SLI enabling

That`s it - you`re done :)

Of course this is only particular case - 6600 (rev.A4) and 6600GT couldn`t be operated in SLI mode with this trick

I just wonder will this trick be helpful enabling SLI with 7800GTX and 7900GT. It seems they gonna have equal amount of pipes :)

Since SLI no longer requires two cards from same manufacturer with identical bios and PCB, this is very good thinking for some very inexpensive GTX 256 / 79GT SLI ownage. :thumbsup:

I flash bios same core/mem (480@1350) but i cant SLI it with driver 81.90 :eek:

However, you can SLI 6800 with 6800GS :clap: :toast:

I thought this was already known that you can use two different ranges but keep in the same family? :confused:
