Hey guys,
Thinking of going with an opty 165, what do you guys recommend in terms of Stable OC gains, and what Mobo should I go with.
I don't need ultimate power, I need a mix of power and stability that will handle my Video Editing needs.
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro 2, Sony Vegas and Soft Image XFS.
Thanks

170, for 10x multi, extra mhz. and you wont need as much of anoverclock, or as much htt as the 165, meaning lower vcore, lower temps, and theoretically longer stable life.
as for mainboards, the dfi lanparty/expert series, or the asus nf4 boards. everything else is just wee wee.
very truly yours,

Thanks, I have P 4 3.0 Precott with 2 GB Ram, i'm hoping this upgrade will grab me some quicker render times!

I encode alot of video with both Cinema Craft Encoder SP 2.7 and H264 encoders... The 165 will do you fine. You want stability.. The 1 meg of cache helps alot for encoding. 170 is a good choice if it fits your budget. 2 Gigs of ram will also help you out quite a bit.
