Hi all, I'm planning on switching motherboards pretty soon, but keeping same processor. The motherboard is a different chipset, so I'm going to format and reinstall the OS.
The question is, I have an OEM copy of Windows XP SP1 that I'm using with the machine I have now, I would like to continue using it after the motherboard upgrade. Will I be able to LEGALLY use this OS on the newer system? I will not use it on the board I have now, as I have other plans for it (Linux).
Thanks for any input.
EDIT: I've read that the OEM copy has to be used with the hardware that you purchased it with (a case screw). Since I'm still using that screw, does that mean I'm legit or nay?
