:eek2:
Not really. Do you even know how expensive supercomputers and their architecture are? Take for example HDDs. Why use regular HDDs if you can get solid state disks that absolutely own them.

i know, but its nice to imagine that within 5-10 years, we will probably have 1tb/sec zipping through our desktops... :D

I doubt 5-10 years, IMO DDR3 will be about at the end of it's life in ~6-7 years

even with quad channel ram, it'll take 16.4ghz ram to get 256gb/s per channel to make the 1Tb/s. that's a lot :(
unless somewhere along the way bus width increases a bunch. if we go from say 64bit wide channels to 256bit wide, then we'll only need 4ghz ram!

I know, I meant that DDR3 won't be able to make close to 1TB/s, and if new tech comes in 6-7 years, that probably won't make it either.
Who knows how far away 1TB/s is

lets see some sandra mem b/w and some everest latency scores well I was thinking the same thing! Guys this is an exclusive... I just called my friend who lives not too far from the Sandia National Laboratories in New Mexico. I asked him to break in there and try to run some Sandra benchies on that Redstorm system. Well he came through for me! He used a hacked version of VMware that allowed him to run these benches, and-- holy crap this thing is fasssst!!! check out these bandwidth scores: :slobber:

i know, but its nice to imagine that within 5-10 years, we will probably have 1tb/sec zipping through our desktops... :DAnd for then Mr. Gates will manage how to fill that with a single NotePad :D
//EDIT: great fake SS! :D If would've worked if it weren't for that "cracked VMWare version" and a 91530% efficiency :stick:
