hey guys I must have missed something, but what is the MPS multiprocessor driver ?? I've seen it listed in a couple of different SS but I've not seen or read anthing about it. Is it a default MS driver, AMD driver or what.

Ok, thought I had missed out on something but the lack of response indicates nobody else knows either ! :D

Google only returned some stuff about older systems, PIII and win2000 etc.
Why are you asking?

MPS is "older brother" of ACPI. Main difference (for average Joe) is that with ACPI driver installed (on PCs that support ACPI) OS has control over power management schemes. E.g. with MPS you can't Shutdown, Suspend, Soft-Reset or Hibernate you PC from OS. If you choose Shutdown from Start, you will see "Your Computer is ready to shutdown" on the screen and you will have to manually press the button. ACPI system, with ACPI driver will shut it down for ya ;) There are other differences, like managing IRQ's, blah, blah...

Ok, thanks
I saw a couple of screen shots with it and wasn't real sure what it was. IMO someone has ACPI disabled in bios.

I keep hearing that it increases the heatload, I think Dynasty from EOCF said something about it.. people use it for cold bugged CPU's under subzero cooling

Thats were I saw it being used, for cold buged chips.

Apparently it runs hotter than ACPI Multi, on a bugged chip I can see that being helpful.
Yep. it helps dual core cpu with xtra heat load.
I will try it with a 'little' bugged X2 4800 0513TPMW and cascade.....Hope it will @ least post @-97C evap..

Every little bit helps, I am going to try it with a cold bug chip too.
