I'm not sure what is causing this to happen, but it's got me lost

Basically if I set anything between 1.4v and 1.525v for CPU voltage in bios it reports voltage as 1.41v

If I set 1.55v the system refuses to boot and I have to reset the bios via the jumper

If I set the following for CPU VID Special Control when CPU Voltage is set to startup (1.36v)
104% gives 1.41v
110% gives 1.49v
113% gives 1.54v

This has only happened since I upgraded the bios to the latest official bios that supports FX-60, on original bios and with my winchester 3000+ the voltage options worked perfectly

Anyone got any ideas why this is happening or what I can do to fix the voltage options so they work properly again

Try lowering the startup voltage to get it to boot with high volts.

What do you mean

Highest I have booted with is 1.54v (startup (1.36v) and 113%)

CPU voltage set at 1.55v won't boot at all :(

EDIT: I've only had my DFI MB for 3 weeks so I'm a little lost with the settings and the manual doesn't have the bios settings in it

I remember that happened to me as well on one of those bioses I tried...can't recall wich one though.
I remember I was baffled as well and decided to not use the particular bios.
Another thing I have experienced (also on a bios I can't recall) is when changing the HTT value UNDER 200MHz it jumps directly to the max value of 500MHz and I can't go back but has to go "all the way around" again...

Thanks Clint, I suspected it could be bios related

Any idea which bios I should be using for
DFI NF4 Ultra D
G.Skill TCCD @ 300Mhz
Opteron 165

Or an idea of where I can get the bios or info from would be helpfull :)

why are you even using startup voltage in bios to set the volts.......just leave that value at auto dude........

there are a couple of values under startup which are you CPU vcore settings....so set the below values to 1.4v + 104/110/113/123%.....and you'll get correct voltage

check out this screenshot ..............you need to adjust the 1.55v value there and percentage below.......don't touch startup value at all

Here's a handy table that I quickly built up in Excel...

Left hand side is the setting for "CPU VID Control"
Top row is for "CPU VID Special Control"
Actual voltage it works out as is in the middle.

For quick reference...

Green is 1 to 1.399
Yellow is 1.4 to 1.599
Pink is 1.6 to 2.125

Note: These are just calculated values according to the percentage figures as shown in the BIOS itself. These values are in no way a guarantee as to what you will actually get. See the following thread for more a bit more discussion on this...

Thanks [timko] That table will come in very handy when playing with my cpu voltages again

ok i know why oyu want the latest bios but if you dont have the fx-60 why use the bios? might be missing something but did you get any added benefits to using that or not? over your last bios and what was your last bios 704-2, 623-3, or 510-3?
thanks

My bios was the original bios the board shipped with and I had to update to get my dual core opteron 165 to be recognized and boot the comp

I choose the bios with support for the FX-60 because it has dual core support and for 1MB cache also :)

I'm too much of a DFI noob to tell you the differences in bios and I have only tried 2 one for single core and one for dual core ;)
