Neowin (http://www.neowin.net/) Reporting the following packages for Windows Vista are being released:
# Windows Starter 2007 - A very basic version of Windows that will sell at a significantly lower price than the other seven versions.
# Windows Vista Home Basic - Think of it as Windows XP Home, but with a few features missing.
# Windows Vista Home Basic N - Windows XP Home built for our European friends with a few features missing, including - with certainty - Windows Media Player.
# Windows Vista Home Premium - Think of it as the equivalent of XP Home
# Windows Vista Business - XP Pro, sort of.
# Windows Vista Business N - Vista Business minus Windows Media Player.
# Windows Vista Ultimate - The ultimate package for the ultimate geek / employee / employer within.
# Windows Vista Enterprise - Something similar to Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition, but with a touch of Vista

I won't use it until DRM and simmilars are cracked / disabled. Even if that's 2010.

wont surprise me if microsoft would include DRM patches in windows automatic updates after vista hits the market. thats why Ive deleted every registry item containing 'update' :p:

That and there is no significant improvement over XP.
Its just XP with a prettier face and extra security for people who are computer challenged.

Windows FS sounds pretty badass IMO.
I'll keep XP handy if DRM get to be a PITA, but otherwise, sign me up.

Unless pirated versions work smoother (again) I might actually buy Vista for convenience... it's sad, although I have a legal purchased version of Windows XP (a few actually) I regret the purchases since I always use and prefer the pirated versions, imo they actually work much smoother: No genuine disadvantages, just get it in w/e language you desire atm, hell you don't even need to crack activation of corp ed ... guess that's over with Vista though since there'll be no corp ed of "Ultimate" due to piracy "threat".
I don't know about you, but I'd love trying out some future DX10 games, even though all DRM hasn't been cracked yet. I don't live in the states though, so I won't be forced to use TCPA... (Btw guys, as long as you run with TCPA mode deactivated, pirated stuff should work...not much else but pirated stuff though.)
Then again, how ultimate really?

dunno if its (stil) correct but i read that one of the things giving vista a boost is that its core is dx10 orso so when dx10 games and stuff pop up ul get a power boost cause XP will have to emulate Dx10 orso and vista wont.
dunno much bout software so dunno if thats true.

AMEN!! I will refuse to use ANY DRM-infected product(CD's, OS, HDDs in the fiture?) until there is a full and complete hack/workaround to it.
Now, Vista is "officially" unofficially available on Dec. 1, 2006. If it is indeed released on that date, I guess that means we'll be able to use a DRM-free version by, what, January? :p:
