hi,

is there any universal method to find out if the motherboard is faulty or not? I have had few cases when the motherboard might have been faulty (the system does not boot up), but the faulty component might have been be the CPU as well (it is rare, but it is possible). It is easy to test the memory or change the graphics card, but it is not so easy to find a suitable CPU and motherboard.

Any ideas

Is“nt there some way to measure something using the multimeter? I mean for example to measure some certain points on the motherboard and if the situation looks correct there, then the motherboard is OK. Or something similar to make sure if the motherboard is the troublemaker

my question has nothing to to with a specific motherboard.

Just is there some technique to make sure, if the motherboard is faulty or not?

yeah test the Ram, CPU, PSU and CD drive make sure they work
and if when they are in the Mobo something goes wrong you will know it is the Mobo

jep, I know that, but I have no suitable CPU for my motherboard. So the faulty component is a CPU or a mobo. Now my point is that is there some kind of way to test the motherboard (if it is broken or not) without replacing the CPU ? :)
