Wouldn't beat it perhaps...but if you add them together, or even if you have one or the other, it's better than the status quo.


Hopefully AMD has enough time between Conroe and whenever to encorporate this into the 65nm AM2 refresh. ;)

Those encoding benchmarks done by ATI are misleading.

First off, they were never GPU assisted. Secondly, they apparently used inferior quality to boost the performance.

We have yet to see the impact of full GPU assisted encoding software at this point, so we don't know what the performance will be like.

it was in that big Avivo review.
currently Avivo doesnt use the GPu but uses a special codec and lets the CPu do the work just like all other programs do.
but the info about the inferior quality is new to me tbh.

Waste of Transistors if you ask me.. Leave all that processing for the Graphics cards...
