This is my initial run in '01with my x850xtpe and my Opty 154. Basically, I just booted up, set clockspeeds on GPU with ATI Tool, and used ATI Tray Tools set @ Max Performance. Opened 3d01 and ran the test straight through - with no stops between individual tests. No OS tweaks, no GDDR tweaks, default memory timings on RAM. Not a bad result :p: Let's see that backup k|ngp|n, cuz this was a little TOO easy to take :D I'll try to make an optimized run a little later this week with my Expert. The cpu and gpu both have *a bit* left in them ;) .....
Here are my system's specs:
Opty 154 @ 14x268, 1.648Vcore - Cooled by a Polycold/Chilly1 Autocascade
DFI Ultra-D Rev. AD0
Team PC4000 UTT BH5 @ 2-2-2-5, 3.53V
x850xtpe @ 789/688 (I know the pic below shows 783, but it's really 789 :) ) - Cooled by a Baker 1hp Rotary Single Stage

Yeah, my old x850xtpe would MAX out @ ~610-620 Core on water  This one was able to run to 660/650 @ Default voltage on plain water, 700/685 w/ a little bump in voltages, 720/685 on a pelt, and 790+/688+ on phase

Nice score bro. I don't have backups for that one.
Cmon'... my x850xtpe agp score was weak as hell man. I did it with a 760m and x850xtpe AGP (the cards are different becasue the nature comes out much worse on agp) and there was no lod tweak for ATI then either.
Since these cards are so cheap now, maybe I'll grab another one and give you a good race with my 780m?? You said it was too easy and maybe you need more of a challenge :)

You CL will variate A LOT in every run you make. thats why the best is to run it last. in that way you can just keep running it until it gives you a desent score.
its actely a bug in 01, but a good one:D
if you try and take a close look when you run CL, you can actely see that sometimes the big "oil cans" (dont know the english word for the big ones rolling when you hit them) dont roll, and sometimes they do. its funny

CL scores vary a lot. On the same clocks me max difference in overall score due to a different CL is about 380 points (which is 38 FPS in CL). First i thought it was the barrel(s) that i sometimes hit and sometimes not even see, but i dont think its actually that because i compared a lot of me runs with/without barrel and none of them were consistent higher then the other.
Run CL as the last test and keep rerunning it until you hit a good one... If its the last test you run youll get a score after each rerun.

Amazing score Steven! Nice to see these cards are still good for very big numbers.
And k|ngp|n is right...X850XT (PE) AGP sucks major ass. Still po'ed that I stupidly took it over an X800XT PE.
Your nature looks like it has some LOD going on. Looks like ATiTool is in fact doing something. It shouldn't look cartoonish at all.
Oh and as for trying that baker unit on a CPU, here's what G H Z recently got with Baker's CPU unit, same compressor as the GPU unit, IIRC.

Please tell me that's an x1900xt because that seems a bit crazy for an x850xtpe :p: And "ONLY" -9C???
Edit: Ooops...I misread - he's using a Baker on the CPU and something else on the GPU...OK..I get it now. I'm thinking that ATI Tray Tools enables LOD when you set it to "performance mode" as well. I wonder what kind of effect that LOD has on all the "regular" tests BESIDES Nature. Did it adversely affect my scores?

It all depends - the digital thermometer which was originally connected to the unit would display -56C as it's lowest reading. When I hooked up a UEI and placed a probe on the face of the evap, the temp was actually -70C. Of course our units may be charged differently as a GPU cooler generally doesn't need to be charged for capacity as much as a cpu unit does. What are your temps like on the cpu with the Baker?
G H Z
02-15-2006, 04:14 PM
-26° in BIOS @ 3.73Ghz 1.728V, evap reads -59°. I think Bakers temp units are very very accurate. Mousepot & DI on this chip is -38° in BIOS with -71° container base.
afireinside

Did you make sure the UEI was set for the right probe type? 14c is a big difference... But I do know that baker's units idle down around -72C in a cold room. Best single stage coolers you can possibly get :D
3d01 scoring:
low tests = 10 points per frame
high tests and nature = 20 points per frame

Yes I know how how to use a digi therm. I tested with a K-type Probe on 2 UEI's and 1 Extech Thermometer - all gave the same temperature - -70.1C on the face of the evap ;)

Yours may be, but the one on this unit is pretty flakey - it doesn't eve register a temp a lot of the time. I'll have to take it apart at a later time and fix it up ;)

After getting some tips from a few more experienced members here, I put together a somewhat tweaked '01 run last night with the card. TBH, I expected a higher score, but I guess this will have to do for now :p: BTW, the Baker GPU-cooler was in a good mood :D :

Hehe...who needs to upgrade -> this score puts me in 6th place on the x1900xtx Orb Leader board :p: . The setup has some more room for higher scores as the GPU was "only" clocked to 793-789/685 for this run. I've already been able to bench the core @ 809, but haven't yet found the optimal memory frequency for the card. I'm still working on the best combination of clocks vs. voltages as there seems to be quite a few factors which result in higher scores. Also, I've yet to tweak my Bh5's for these 3d runs.......

Yeah, taking a second look I'd think you're right. It seems like Stephen is one of the few that's actually taken an R480 to clocks that high. Opp still has pretty much the highest GPU clocks on the ORB for any X8XX, that's where his score is coming from. Sort of strange because generally 850's do clock very well...
Guess I'm biased against 48(3) since it gives me crappy performance on AGP, lol.

Just found OPP's score. His core clocks look to be in the 820's on certain tests and his memory's only @ 671. I think with a bit of a push, this core could possibly make it to 815-820, but it may not pay off in terms of giving the best results....

G_H_Z, hmm, can you please post a compare URL, dont remember if it was you, but some dude made a SICK DL :), 78x'ish with sub 700mhz core and 3.5ghz CPU I think it was, I truely wonder how that could happen :S

With 3500mhz i´m surprised he did not hit 800ish in DL. I have 776 with 3370mhz and 740/660. DL is also very much about CPU speed.

Yeah, but still... - Im stuck at 734.4fps, on my most tweaked OS :( - 723/658mhz, but 3200mhz... Is it my CPU thats the bottleneck??
This CPU pisses me of, I havnt got a 2x 256MB kit, but weakening timmings doesnt gain any degree's in coldbug, its primestable at 3200mhz, but benchstable at 3222mhz... GRR
But 2x 256MB might get me another 20 degs... - Futher, I remember, my GFX, it ran 01SE @ nature with 750/675mhz tweaked timmings... - But with idle -13, my idle during benching without the CPU bugging out is -1 to +3... :S

Yeah, 3.2GHz is definitely a CPU bottleneck for those speeds. SIOUX, I think you'd find yourself losing a lot of fps from slowing down GPU speeds, though. At your point its almost like CPU/GPU are both at the optimal speeds for one another.

yes..ofcourse you will loose fps from slowing down gpu speeds. what i was applying was that CPU speed also play a big roll in DL.

This one was done at same cpu speed as earlier:

M.Beier: What if you're not online when I decide to run it again? :p:
Gautam: I haven't yet found the proper voltage to run 815+ core stable. @ 809 core, I'm running ~ 1.78Vgpu, but I get the feeling the card wants to back off a bit as I may not be running a high enough VDDQ. I'm kinda leery about pushing the VDDQ past 2.5V though as I don't really want to kill this card......yet :D
Yes Willis, you did say 47K....I'm working on it ;)
@ GHZ: Your score is the next one in line on the x1900xtx leaderboard :hehe: :toast:

Sad Hipro5 didnt use LOD tweak, he'd be kissing 50K with x8xx serie !!!
- Hmm, Stephen you didnt see that other nick, havnt got it fixed yet..
- Didnt PC ICE hit 9xxmhz GPU on his x850 series card?? - He tryed to hit 1ghz I remember :P - INSANE :D - Sadly he's only on XS anymore, Jason + PC ICE were big losses for XS, but everybody cant get pleased... PC ICE became a thread for buissness I guess, he made some sweet cooling gear...

Well we know of someone who's benched '05 @ 900+Gpu on an x850xtpe. And 722 on the memory wasn't too shabby either.....:p:
