Alright I just finished reformating my PC with Windows Media Center Edition and now I have another problem. When I start up my PC it says please select one operating system:

Windows XP Media Center Edition
Windows XP Installer(something like that I can't remember the exact words)

How can I get rid of this?

YOu have to locate and edit your boot.ini file and delete the line that say Microsoft XP installer or whatever it said. It is a hidden file. Do a search and include hidden files. Do not delete the first line under operating system. Your boot.ini should look similiar to what is below.

timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOW S
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows Media Center" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
[B]multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

I am not too familiar with XP Media Center. Another way may be to right click my computer and goto properties, Advanced Tab, and setting under Startup and Recovery. Once there click the edit button and that will open the boot.ini file for you. Delete the last line, the OS you dont want, then save. Easier this way but dont know with media center.

I am supposed to delete the last line, correct?

It is in your root drive. The drive you installed the OS on...usually the C: drive. Like I said before it is a hidden file. Open a folder (any one), go to Tools, Folder options, View, and check Show hidden files and folders and uncheck Hide protected operating system files. Then go to your c: drive and edit it.

delete the last line. C:\$WIN_NT~~~~~~

Right click my computer, properties, advanced tab, setting under start up and recovery. Uncheck the box that says Time to display operating systems or reduce to 0 or 1 sec.

Computerman are you sure this wont lock me out from Windows Media Center because if I dont chose an OS from the list it always brings me to the installer.

What shows up in your list now..it shouldn't have happened. I have mine the same way and no problems but then again I have normal XP pro. Sorry you had to reformat.

It's alright, I know you trying to help;) At least the selection option is gone now and it boots right up to Windows Media Center so the reformat was needed.:woot:
