i searched on these forums and couldent find info on taking the IHS off of the LGA775 socket. is it possible?

after last series of nortys on s478, so that's all preshots and cedars, IHS is glued with epox on core, so if you remove IHS, you will most likely destroyed CPU.

you can't remove the IHS of a LGA proc without removing an electrical Ground

I pulled the IHS off of a 478 Prescott and it was not epoxy. That was definatly solder. Even in light of this minor detail you cannot pull the IHS off of an LGA775 without the use of either some heat or some cnc machining neither of which i would call safe for a cpu.
I should mention that the answer to the thread maker's question could have been easily attained through www.google.com or the forum search button.

Well duh.. if you narrow the search down enough..
heck go over to google and seach in quotes for .edu 939 socket
and you wont find one Damn link.. The idea is to make a broud search and slowly make it more precise

not really.. some of the best technical documents about socket 939 don't have 939 or socket in the title.. you are going to have to realize that the title doesn't mean much...
