Ok, well I have this little problem. Whenever I use the CMOS Reloaded jumper thingy on my DFI Lanparty (in sig), everything seems to work fine. But when I try logging on to MSN Messenger, it doesn't work and it gives me an error :stick: . It says the following:
Sorry, we were unable to sign you in to MSN Messenger at this time.
Please try again later.
To let us try and troubleshoot the problem, click the Troubleshoot button.
Error 80048820.
Anyone else getting this problem? Anything to help me solve this problem? Thanks a lot.

P.S. Troubleshooting doesn't work as I expected. :slap:

First and Formost it isn't freaking related to your BIOS
secondly it is just MSN being stupid again.. Relax it'll be solved in an hour or two

No, it is with my bios. The same thing happened the last time I did CMOS reloaded as well. Unless it's just some freak coincidence. Last time, it didn't fix up. Even after a week of waiting, nothing happened. It fixed up when I formatted. Oh well, I have to format next week anyways so... So yeah, it seems like it does have something to do with the CMOS reloaded thing. I agree with you, it shouldn't have anything to do with my bios, but it seems like it does.

My guess is just reinstall all of your drivers and mess around with your Firewall settings..

K, I'll try and see what I can do with that, if any of you have had this problem and have a cure, a little help would be really useful. Thanks.

well i have a few questions...
1. what causes you to have to reset the cmos (just to make sure you understand what it it generally used for)?
2. msn is always annoying
3. are you using your onboard lan/ethernet?
4. can you name for us all the bios settings related to lan/ethernet that are in your bios, or possibly (if you're using a pci network card) any pci settings in your bios?
i think that reseting your bios is causing some setting (who knows what it could be) to be turned off/on or reset, and whatever it may be msn doesn't like.
If this isn't the case then your bios has nothing to do it the problem.
either way though i feel that reformat is a little drastic for a problem such as this.

1. I had to reset CMOS because I tried making my RAM timings 2-2-2-5 just to see what would happen, and it wouldn't POST. This was the first time ever messing around with my BIOS so it kinda freaked my out when it wouldn't even POST but that's a different story...
2. Yes it is.
3. Yes I am using the onboard LAN/ethernet on my mobo.
4. Where would I be able to find this? In what section? Sorry, but I'm a n00b and I haven't really been into my bios often.
Yes, I know a reformat is a little drastic, but hey, I was going to do it next week anyways so it's not really MSN that's forcing me to format.

what is forcing you to reformat?
and the settings are probably scattered throughout the bios, just take a pen/pencil and write down any you think would relate to the onboard lan and post them here.
Now that i took a look at your sig is see you have near the same mobo as i do (dfi lanparty ut 939 nf4-d) yet i have never had this problem... which makes me doubt its a bios problem...
do you have any firewall/norton (i hate norton...)?

If you have a ps/2 style keyboard connected (not USB) you can hold down the insert key while hitting the power button to turn it on then hit the delete key as normal to jump in the BIOS. Saves you from having to clear CMOS when your timings cause POST failure.

thats pretty cool, i never knew that.
and ferrari, if you want to tweak your ram use a64 to tweak it in windows, so if you go past your rams limits it will simply freeze or restart but you will never have to reset your cmos. although doing it this way can cause corruption within windows so create a restore point before doing anything (has saved me so many times). and thats quite surprising you've never went into your bios except for recently, just wait, there are many more goodies to be found in the bios :)

Yes, I've heard there are many goodies. But hey, this is my first build and as you know OEM computers don't really have anything in their bios. Plus I'm only 14 here, so you can't blame me that this is my first build lol :p: I'll use your way of RAM tweaks though. Thanks a lot, I'll have a look through my bios to see if anything could be messing up my MSN.
