Here's a mod for chilly-kayl evaps...
I dunno if someone has done it again but here it is
The cap tube is used with a valve that way so u can take it off

Υοu take off the washer ,you braze and u put the washer back
So if you want to take off the cap tube you don't need to braze it again:D

My English is not good and I have just understood to the perfection the like one makes, but do I believe that what you try to say, is that this way you can avoid having to weld and desoldar directly the capillary of the evap, not?
Greetings

oh yes
that's why I told that with this way u avoid brazing:D
ex if u have 220 cm cap tube and u would like to change it to 250 cm for ex u just unscrew it;)

Are you using the top of a schrader valve?
Would it not leak in the long term?
Tom
thats my tought also:)
brazing the cap of the filter drier is no problem at all so i think i'll never do this mod.

yes:)
no why? I braze it and when Ι screw it I use a kind of glue ,leak lock ...so there is no prob:)
leak lock yeah, but then unscrewing is harder no?
hell yeah just let everyone do whats best for him;)

Cool, so long as you're happy with it then it seems to be a good idea :)
I think it should be fine with pressure as the highest pressure it'll experience will be static charge. I'd have doubts about the lock seal compound failing after prolonged use and expansion / contraction with temperature. Time will tell.
Maybe a small (1/4") brased flare would be better, but your idea is great...

Use a flare nut then it will seal on the taper, no gasket

Well since evap temp will hover around -50 to -40c most likely, most plastic based (rubber, etc) gasket on schraeder cap will not do well over time. Thus, you could use flare joint with flare nut using no gasket if your flare job is superb or copper flare nut gasket which will contract and expand at same rest as your flare joint. I use gasket quite frequently and haven't failed me yet :)

Thats not really designed to seal a leaky join. its more of a thread lock to stop the flarenut loosining itself over time.
The other guys are onto it,you need to use a flarenut (a 1/4" flarenut will fit a shcrader valve), the flare will make the seal and you shouldnt have to use leak lock at all. Jort is right all it does is make it harder to undo.

it's not that hard to undo...
hmm seems that I am quite strong...lol
It works fine though!
Try and u ll see!

see this thread

when I started this thread I used that flex tubes
without the leak lock the system had many leaks ( the flex)
when I used that there were no leaks... till 8/2/06 the day I undo the system in order to use me new evaps ;D
