Going to order some stuff
Charging manifold and hoses
Coiled copper tubing
Maybe some insulation, and pipe benders...
Map Gas Brazing torch
just teh usual stuff.
Now, my question involves the charging manifold, its rated at R22, and i need it for r404a and r290
I take it they will be fine... but id just like a second opinion before i buy them.
And my other question is, What size pipeing do you guys usually use in your single stages? 1/4, 3/8 ect, i need a pointer in what size to get, dont want no flimzy :banana::banana::banana:e :)
ah, and finally, the MAP gas torch, currently they only have propane ones.. and im worryed it will not get hot enuf for brazing, so i might have to hold up for that. What ya guys think?
Any advice needed here!

1/4" discharge, 3/8" suction.
Gauge will work fine, but you'll have to look up vapour pressure-temperatures from a chart instead of having it printed on the gauge. I've never seen a gauge for r290...
I use a big propane torch and it works well, i believe MAPP is hotter and what most people here use.

so, if ya have the time to sit there and heat it up, propane is fine..
and if ya dont want to waste any time mapp?
There is also r134a guages, wich are cheaper
EDIT: the r22 dont come with hoses :(

B&Q Warehouse is where I got my MAPP torch. ;)
I've used a butane torch before and it didnt heat up things anywhere near as quick, but I never tried brazing with it.
I THINK the R134a guages would be fine, as they would go upto the same pressure. I think it's just the scales which are different. (Don't hold me to that ! Get a second opinion.)

MAPP is hotter, which means more heat output with a given flame. Given the choice i would have a MAPP torch, but propane is cheap and works good enough for me.
Most gauges are rated for several refrigerants. Mine have r12, r22 and r502, the other set for r134a, r22 and r404a. The r134a set may not go up high enough on the high side gauge, although i doubt that it wouldnt work fine. Ive never seen a gauge for only one refrigerant before with the exception of r410...

Yea I looked around all over the place for a MAPP torch .. I couldn't find one so I gave up and went to B&Q for a new butane torch and then I found the MAPP stuff .. It was the last place I expected to find one. :P
