baisically i might be able to get my hands on some r407c as i cant get hold of anything else apart from r290 which im using at the moment but i need something with better load handling. is it worth buying or is there anyone in the uk who can sort me out with some r507/502/402/410? cheers

Actually 407c isn't bad at all if it's easy for you to get.

The head pressure is relatively light, the mass is fairly good, and the boiling point is 3c colder than R22. It's not as high capacity as R404a or quite as cold either, but should work quite well anyway.

NBP is -43.8, and mass is 86.2, so really it should be easy to work with, and very cold.

Cheers

cool i might get it then i need some refrigerant other than r290 as it just cant hold the load on my opty its a hot bugger. plus i can build my own custom units then for other people but i would prefer some other gas if your out there in the uk and know someone who can sell me some cold stuff then please pm me. ps im buying a lathe this week so i can make the blocks at home so i will have some ready to be sold soon and can maybe do a trade:)

yeah i know ebay has some refrigerants i contacted one of the guys on there hes the one who is going to sell me some r407c the lathe is going to cost me enough but it will allow me to produce some nice blocks at home rather than having a hour or so every few lunch times. i have a few nearly done now but the workshop at work will be closed for the next week as its half term so thats why im buying my own lathe.

r407c has a very large glide making it not very efficient for these systems I think

Why dont you get 404a? It is widely stocked in most hvac stores.

no licence and this guy wil sell it to me without needing one, thats why, id get a licence if i knew how and how much it would cost and round here it is near impossible to find a hvac store.

R404a has a large glide and we still use it.

The relatively low pressure of 407c makes it quite easily usable. It's not as cold and doesn't have the great capacity of some other refrigerants, but it should be better than R22 anyways.

the amount of r134a in r404a is very low so it doesn't bother much. about half of r407c is r134a.
