View Full Version : swap out P4 or a Dothan CPU in my notebook??

I have a Dell 8500 inspiron with a 2.2 ghz P4 and was wondering if I could swap it out for a cooler running P-M ???


would a Dothan 750 work?? or is this not doable??

No it wont work. Here is the chipset it uses

It does not support Pentium M.

no, they are incompatable. also, fyi, s479 AND s478 (many sites report s478 as an error, all dothas are s479) dothans have 478 pins but are keyed differently than normal s478 chips.
