just got an email from newegg saying they gave me a refund on my ballistix rma because they were out of stock Right when they got it.. seems I got lucky for a change.

had no luck with ballistix whatsoever.. couldn't o/c past 250mhz no matter what settings.. died in a few weeks at 250mhz(even at lowest voltage) with a 92mm fan blowing on them the whole time I had them.

So.. as the title says I'm currently trying to find a kit that o/cs pretty well and won't die every couple weeks and have to rma a million times...

Any suggestions appreciated.

same question here - better to get pc4000 @ 3-4-4-8 (2x1gb) or pc3200 @ 2-3-3-6 (2x1gb) ????

looking at the g.skill range at the moment.

i see....ummm..mistake on previous post i meant pc3200 @ 2-3-2-5 still same verdict? however it is slighlty more expensive than the G.skill pc4000 givng the impression the g.skill pc3200 is better???

Thanks for the linkage. those things are lookin' pretty sweet. and getting $100 back from a rma will also be sweet...(newegg owns.)

Actually if I were you.. I would use the extra $100 and upgrade the cooling of your system..
Or save it for the upcoming OCZ phase cooler

I will keep saying that tight timmings is better then crappy 3-4-4 timmings @ any speed.

The pc3200 G.skill ram overclocks quiet nice also and has the timmings

Its up to you i mean iv seen the G.skill with the bad timmings run @ 3-3-3 ect. If you want to run @ really high speeds in sync then go for the pc4000, if you want higher benchmark scores and slightly higher fps go for the pc3200

well.. I went with the pc4000.
Haven't had much luck at all overclocking it.. guess I can live with the same performance my crappy ballistix were giving for $100 less tho...

ok, just say you set the g.skill pc4000 at ddr400 speed, what kind of timings can you acieve? are they close to the pc3200 @ 2-3-2-5?

likewise if you upped the speed of the g.skill pc3200 to about 480MHz how loose do the timings have to be???

way to make things difficult!.. j/k.. I'll check it out I spose..
*edit*bout the lowest I could get into windows:

*edit2* couldn't even get 240 stable at 3 3 3 x.. so I gave up sorry.. I think you get the idea though..
I'd still say read some of the reviews on newegg before jumping right into the 3200's.. not everyone is keeping those tight timings w/ the oc..
