Has anyone had keyboard/mouse PS2 issues on the Expert boards?

Last night I was doing some coding on my rig, then all of a sudden the keyboard stops working. Hmmm, did a repost and still the same problem. Here are the symptoms, and yes I tried a different keyboard. I have not tried a USB keyboard as I do not own one. And even if a USB keyboard would work I dont think I should have to use one...the PS2 port should work. My mouse is USB, but did come with a PS2 adapter...I am gonna go try that once I post this thread and see what happens.

On post the keyboard lights do the normal turn on scenario, but usually the NUMLOCK key will remain lit ... but now it does not.
Ok, so I jump into the bios. But as soon as I get into the bios the keyboard does not work. So, it works right at the initial boot but seems to stop after that as I can obviously get into the bios using the DEL key.

This is an odd problem. I did a thorough check of the board to make sure there isnt anything causing a short, and also tried a bios reset. I really doubt its OS driven as it happens prior to getting into windows - so an OS reinstall should be the last thing to try. And not likely the psu is involved either. I really dont want to have to RMA this board as I have a ton of work that I need to do for school.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have wierd PS2 mouse issues. On reboot the cursor wont move using my ps2 mouse. Plug in a usb one & all is fine. Reboot again & "hey presto" the ps2 mouse works again. Once working it does not die though.

Thanks for the input.

Yeh, weird problem for sure. I am not even running oc'd atm either. I will go grab a USB keyboard and see what happens. Just shouldnt have this type of problem.

I have reposted it many times and stil nothing. If it was a once every 4-5 reposts then that would be one thing, but atm I have no PS2 port. Once I finish doing this java program on my laptop I will go stick a PS2 mouse in to see if that port is also affected.

I've had the opposite happen. My usb ports quit working then the board died.

Thats not the answer I was hoping for.

How long did the RMA take?

Well, official that both PS2 ports are history. I suppose I could buy a USB keyboard, but I should not have to do that is the problem. My concern is that this may only be the start of things to come.

Damn weird. Guess I will start the RMA process. Arghhh.

Better the PS/2 ports than the CPU/RAM

Very very true. Atleast the ram has a lifetime warranty...replacing the board may be more painful than any other component.
