Iam doing a lot of stuff in programmes like Photoshop/Illustrator/Coreldraw etc. for business - and i realised that especially when working on a catalogue
in Adobe in Design ( with lets say 30 pages open with pictures frames andstuff) my computer is slowing things a lot - takes time to switch between pages takes time to save etc.

So i want to build a pc (not a mac) optimised for that stuff - price range
should be around € 1.500,-

So i wonder if anyway has experience which parts would be the best.
Post your suggestion - thank you.

You may want to look into using a Gigabyte I-Ram for your scratch disk. Also dual core and 2Gb memory or more. Those things should speed up Adobe performance considerably.

I wonder, does Adobe have 64-bit versions of their apps yet?

I-Ram is plagued with problems and shortcomings would consider it three times over before getting one.

If that's the case just get a bunch of ram.

thanks for your comments.

currently running 3,ghz p4 with 1500mb ram
I prolly go and upgrade to 2-4gb ram.

I also thought about getting the new raptor with 150gb.
Question when i save all files on that drives but windows and application are on the slower standard sata drive does that slow down the raptor?
From my understanding the raptor drive with the saved phtoshop files should work at full speed without interfere of the standard sata

If you're running DDR2 and have 650-800 USD to spare, you could get 4gb in 2x2gb sticks (OCZ has some 533mhz 3-3-3-8 timings).

you dont need to spend that much on ram for a photoshop pc, you dont need tight timings or more mhz. just mass amounts

^Right^

RAM OCing doesn`t improove performance in Photochop that much - pretty useless money spend. Just get some decent 2GB kit.
About that Raptor - just put scratch disk on it - would be faster indeed. Photoshop also suggests to keep scratch disk on separate drive.
