What could I realistically expect without going crazy on volatage (Asus A8R-MVP mobo so limited on that:(), and is there a better chance of a good clocker buying retail or OEM ?
Thanks :)
Heres retail...@ 1.43v..

Ordered mine a few days ago, I hope I can get 3Ghz on air. I don't know what to expect yet.

I've never seen 3.0GHz on air, except maybe a guy with a 0530, but I don't know if it was Prime95 stable

damn guys. You gotta post your cpu core temps when you're taking those screenshots, i dont know how impressed i should be.
But i'm guessing: Pretty impressed.

Looks like 3Ghz on air is doable, I had no doubt.
But, what are the temps?

/me keeps his fingers crossed, orded a fx60 and hopes it will do 3GHz(250x12) under water...
Benchable on air yes, stable very rare

Really?
I was under the impression that 3.0 was easy with the FX-60. After all it's only a 400Mhz OC... Guess the premium silicium everyone is so full about doesnt really mean all that much then.
edit: noticed too late that you were only referring to air. But that doesnt make me very confident about reaching 3.0 on water, and better cooling is still only for the real enthusiasts (select crowd) imo
It is do-able. HOw come your CPU ID is not loading properly?

:stick:
With dual core, 1 instance of 32M isn't a proof of stability, run 2 plz.

Well ... at least a couple of hours prime on both cores type stable .... thats basically how I check it, if it completes 2 hours prime with no errors, then I don't usually have a problem gaming.
Nice to see some 3ghz about on air ... Dynasty @ 1.28v is looking v. impressive.
When were that batch made ?
Just trying to determine if looking for an etailor that has just got a new batch in, would be a better bet than one thats had 50 in stock for the last month or so ...
If you could say weather your chip was retail or OEM, that would be helpful too :)

FX60 owners please post your max Prime stable OC, I'm dying to know how far these things clock for 24/7 use.
My FX-60 is 2xprime95 stable only @2800Mhz@1.55V !

AMD dual core lineup began with the X2 3800+ but has come to include the 3500+, 4000+, 4200+, 4400+, 4800+, and now the FX-60.
There is a 3500 X2??? Where!?!? And a 4000+ dual core??????

Youre kidding me?
Not that 2.8Ghz dual core isn't great and all but that's only a 200Mhz OC, what happened to the ol premo silicium then? I mean the FX series is designed for overclocking, aimed at the enthusiasts. 200Mhz extra isn't all that great for a $ 1200,- cpu. There's plenty of X2's and optys that can reacht 2.8 stable too.

no doubt. that chip must be defective. I'll hold it for ya OBR.
This is my really bad FX-60, any frequency above 2800@any voltage (1.65V too) is unstable...

What are your temps when stressed? What wattage is your PSU?
i found nemo
