i can't get XMS at the budget limit
they cost twice and half of the budget :\
btw added Samsung DDR2-667MHz
of course all of the sticks are 1GB

If you are buying from a site over there.. Pass me a link I might be able to pick something better in your price range... and I don't think your mobo supports DDR2

but nn step is correct your mobo use ddr1

well i know it doesn't support the mobo in my sig
its for a new D920 system (with Abit AW8)
the site that i buy from is www.noacomp.co.il but its all in hebrew
the only 667MHz rams are the 3 i mentioned above and the XMS that costs more than the CPU and mobo together :\

Well I couldn't find any DDR2 fat body D9 1GB sticks in your price range..
but there is a chance that http://www.noacomp.co.il/product.asp?productid=3262
might have them but to be honest DDR2 doesn't have a great selection right now...

are you sure?
in the picture they seem value ram
but in PQI's site only CAS3 is on the Turbo series
is it reasonable that they sell it for about 100$ (plus israeli tax)?

Well according to the site they are Cas3 value or not.. that isn't that bad for DDR2
infact the G.Skill has a Cas5..
which I bet if you loosen the PQI to that.. it would hit 333mhz atleast if not 400mhz.
and if you look at G.Skill's pic it looks like Value ram too.. but that is because DDR2 is supposed to be cooler..
as for the prices.. the XMS 1GB sticks cost $160 so it isn't that bad of a deal..

hey guys, this memory is meant for me, Lior just helped till the my new account gets activated. tnx mate! :toast:
I'm working around a pretty tight budget here, around $760 for the cpu/mobo/mem. and don't forget prices here in Israel are quite different.
After ordering D920 through an importer (cost me $326 including the 16.5% VAT, noraml 'street price' for this cpu here is $385!), and ordering an ABIT AW8 (costing me $210), i'm left with about $225 for the mem..
Now maybe in the US i can get sweet deals for this amount, but here in Israel all these value rams mentioned so far are around that $225-250 margin.
This PQI u found doing CL3 is 533mhz, and not in stock. at it's price it's most probably value as well.
I plan on overclocking my system, as much as i can squeeze with a Thermaltake Big Typhoon and a quiet setting. Lior thought u guys might know of a ram company being better than the other. but i really doubt there is a big difference between all these value sticks anyways.
What worries me more is the compatibility of these value sticks with the AW8, i heard it might be a bit picky (at least on the first bios versions). and since i might order the memory and the mobo from different stores, i hope it all works fine together. Abit lists in their website a few recommended memory companies for their boards, but not specific models (and not G.Skill - Samsung - Supertalent - PQI).
Any insights if any of these might not pair well with the AW8 board?
btw, for $280 i can get the PQI TurboMemory 2GB PC2-5400 kit (http://www.pqimemory.com/spec1.asp?link=/dc/PQI25400-2GDB.htm), it's a bit above value, but i'm already kinda out of budget here..
and just so u can get a clue on price differences, the same kit @ newegg costs only $166! :(
so trust me, you don't wanna hear the prices of the "real high-end" sticks..
This all started as a thought to upgrade my venice 3000 to a used D820 for cheap, and this is how i end up.. hardware for life.. :p:

hi milki!
i'm from the holy land like you!
my budget will be very similar to yours...
the MB is Abit AW8
and the cpu might be the cedarmill 3.0GHZ if i won't get a 920 :)
thx!

then you got the same options.. i doubt this value ram will succeed much in o/c though. where are u getting your AW8 from? i see that everywhere got only the max version.

i assume i will get the mobo from KSP but they have only few of them
so what ram are u suggesting?
thx !

well do take note, KSP has stopped importing abit.. they're selling only what they got left in stock.. now i checked on this monday and they had only 2 units left, i reserved one for me, which means if no one bought the other till now, they got just one left.
Rumor in the industry has it that abit is changing management and her future is uncertain right now. to me it doesn't really bother, if i'll get a faulty board i'll just exchange to some asus or something.
I would like PQI Turbo 667mhz 2gb kit, but 1280nis is kinda stretching my budget.. i'll probably go on these, or on the value G.Skill for 1000nis.
It's just a bummer i can't really tell how much each has a potential of overclocking.
