im not a fanboy, so i jump between whichever shows the most promise at the time i spend my money. i currently have an opteron 170 0530 and high end waater cooling. i ran into some money problems and it seems like i wont be able to finish my computer till april. i was pondering even sselling my opteronn now ( since it wont be worth as much later) in hopes of obtaining a solid yonah system.would that be a good idea?

It's too early to say, yet I've only seen one overclocked Yonah. It reached 2.75GHz on 1.5V. This may be a "bad sample," but one really can't say before people get their hands on a Yonah motherboard. There are lots of Yonah processors in the stores, but no motherboards. But we know there will be a handfull of different kinds when they come.

yeah, too early to tell. mobos arent available yet, but the chips are here. a chip without a mobo is pretty useless, so don't sell your goods yet.

you forget to say the 2.75 allready achieves a 23sec superpi 1m ;) so bad sample?

Yeah that's truly amazing given Pi 1M is a single threaded test. Given the weakened L2 latency I have no idea how it scores so well, except maybe was it on the 975X chipset with some high end DDR2...

I'm just considering what a 3GHz+ can do, and what the average oc will be. I don't think it will run two separate 1m's at 23sec, cause it's got the smart cache. But who knows.. Not bad sample as bad performance, but bad sample as low overclockability given the vcore, but I think you understood that;)
