Ive read tons and tons of threads and Im getting really confused on what to buy. I need something that does 285-290mhz ROCK SOLID STABLE.
I am RMAing my ballistix but it looks like I cant get another set.
What shall I get? Cheaper the better....
THANK YOU.

I say UCCC is a good hit. These sticks dont have the problems of 3d stability, and with a sacrifice of active cooling in certain cases 285 is definitely doable.
Teamgroup seems to have good stuff together with Gskill HZ and OCZ's pc4000 gx xtc :toast:

Maybe some extremely good UCCC will do 280.... You'd better stick with micron, but they all seem to die :(

Corsair PC4000 PT for me, doing easily 302 stable.
unfortunatly, 32M doesn't happen to agree with the rest of my system, but 299 is solid for 32M with relative ease.

Cheap too, only $220-ish at newegg.

I'm still in search as well.. I need 280mhz. I've never been a big fan of Corsair, but if they're the only sticks that'll do 280mhz i'll be all over it like white on rice.
I almost ordered the Mushkin Black PC-4000 from monarch as they have a rebate right now.. $195 AR. Does anyone know how these fair?

:fact: It's very important to remember that the memory is not the only actor in the play. Two 1 GB memory sticks put a very large load on the CPU memory controller - these controllers were engineered for 200 MHz - you are trying to get them to run at a 40-50 % overclock with a large electrical load. It is quite common in A64 overclocking that the memory controller has a lower top stable speed than the CPU core. I'm not saying you cannot reach your goal, just be aware you may need to try more than 1 CPU as well as more than 1 brand of memory. I found my CPU topped out at 270 MHz regardless of memory used. It did not stop me from running this Opteron 146 at 3.0 GHz - I just used a divider on the memory. :D

I'll say Mushkin XP4000 UCCC
cheap and does well
but in all honesty it really just depends on week IC's you get from any manufacturer
I've tested 4 diff weeks and 0543 were horrible 260 max, all rest ranged from 270-295mhz -0540 were very good from my recall. Prob is buying dimms you can't get specific weeks or exclude certain weeks so it'll be a crapshoot with whatever brand of UCCC you get.

Hi.. slight threadjack... um, noob here, looking to replace my TCCD 2x 512 OCZ sticks for some 2x 1Gb.
Ive got the choice of:
Corsair PC4000 PT - cheap! and those are very nice clocks!
Mushkin Redline PC4000 - not cheap at all!
OCZ PC4000 GX-XTC - middle of the road
Crucial Ballistix PC4000 - also middle
Id rather stick to sturdyer chips, so that sort of means corsairs or ocz, dont it? Please lend me your knowledge...

Personally, I think I might be getting some of that Xtreme Team UCCC. Ive got someone in Australia that can get it for me and ship it over. It will be around $270 shipped though. Not sure if its worth it.
Second choice would be either that Mushkin that Duonger linked to or the Gskill UCCC....
Good luck!
