Hi.

Could somebody tell me what's a good bit of free software for testing memory.
Just need to check mine out. My PC works top notch all of the time & does stable for at least an hour with Prime95 (Not managed to get it to fail, but ended when got fed up).

But, I have this crashing problem with BF2. It's consistent and always at the same point when loading the game.

I wanted to check my memory out, to see if I have any faults in it.

Thanks.

Have you tried memtest86+ (http://www.memtest.org/)?

And one hour of prime95 isn't that much of a test, can you leave it running overnight?

Superpi 32M

Copy the paste of Superpi32M as much time as you want. Run simultaneously as many Superpi32M as your memory allows (for instance 1GB=3xSP32M).

IMO better than this only playing games, but since you already have problems with games...

:fact: Just one note. Just because you don't have errors in memtest for DAYS, that doesn't mean that your memories are good to go.

My Ballistix didnt' produce a single error in more than 24 hours and yet they couldn't even run SP1M except in some rare occasions. This only happened with one stick, so yes, it was a defective stick.

Thanks for the advice so far guys.
Also, so that I can try and nail the source of my problem once and for all, is there a way to get a blue screen to stay on the monitor before the system automatically reboots itself.
I just get the BSOD for a nanosecond before the crash. No time at all to read what's up though.

All other games are okay. It's just BF2 that I've never been able to get working.

Thx.

GoldMemory ... Much harder than Prime95, S-PI, MemTest and so on... Give it a try!

Rolf i see great sticks.
Can you post the timings for 260?
Gold memory is another option but i recommend lobby loops of 3dmark2001se.

Yo.
Got me BF2 running now.
I managed to tell XP not to automatically boot on a blue screen.
Managed to read the error & it's something to do with my Terratec EWX soundcard driver.

Switched in the onboard sound instead & it works with that. No problemo.

why only 3 instances for 1024mb of ram?

Never heard of this, Ill have to give it a shot.

Anyone else use that GoldMemory? I might try that too
