I had this combination also but wasn't even able to run the memory stable at the rated speed.
I had to send it back and had it replaced by a ZX set (running @ 240 3-3-3-5).
The shop tested it and there was nothing wrong with it, so I'm concluding that the A8N-E mobo just sucks.

Hi,

I recently purchased parts for a new rig.

I'm having a little trouble oc'ing the gskill hz over 250mhz. I have heard 2.6V and 2.7V is good. I've tried a bunch of different ram timings and the comp becomes very unstable for anything over 250Mhz.

opty 144 cab2e 0546 upmw @ 9x3xx
asus a8n-e bios 1010
msi 7800gt
ocz modstream 520

The max fsb on my mobo seems to be 315. I'd really like to hit that ceiling. I'm running a 266 divider on my ram and its sitting around 200Mhz. I would really like to run a 333 divider and have it a tad over 250. Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

From asus mobo:

DDR voltage: 2.6V

Timing mode : manual
Memclock index value: 266Mhz
Tcl : 3
Tras: 8
Trcd: 4
Trp : 4
Trc : 11
Trfc: 15
Trwt: 4
Twr: 3
1T/2T: 2T

A64 tweaker does not seem to want to set the values I want. After each restart it goes back to default values.

The Premium board and the A8N32 work with those sticks just not the deluxe unless you set the timing to 2t

I dunno about that, I have an A8N32-SLI and my 2GB HZ kit won't run near stock speeds on it. :(

What Bios are you using and what do the sticks say under the SPD tabs in the CPU-Z Screen

1009 bios, the SPD is 3-5-5-10 @ 250MHz in CPU-Z v1.31

I use the following setup for the same stick running @ 270mhz @ 2.56v without a problem:

(TREF = 3684 in bios)

cronic is using the A8N32 with this HZ memory up to 275 @3-4-4-8, maybe ask him and see if there's any specific setting that needed to be dial in.
