View Full Version : Can you just add the power of pelts up to a total?

Howdi all :D

I just got a tec installation from HCC and it has 2 70w Meanwell TEC's onder it. now they are side by side and are used to cool down water.(or an attempt to, don't know if this installation was working good)

Now can I just say they cool 140watts or are they still just 70W coolers but with more of a capacity to pull more heat away seeing as you can spread the heating over multiple TEC's and thus use a bigger coldplate etc?

On a chiller you can just add them up.

Same applies for on die.
Difficulty is fitting multiple TEC onto a coldplate attached to the CPU.
Obviously not a problem with a chiller.

Good luck with the chiller, although I think that 2x70watt pelt wont be much good unless your only cooling your 9800.

I second everything holst says. A good design for a chiller requires a lot of surface area and efficiency. 4 x 320watt peltiers, each only being supplied 75% of there max voltage would give quite good results. Dual 70's? might not even chill your 9800.

not supposed to chill, freeze, the 9800 just to keep it's temp low enough :) It was being used as a waterchiller setup and I think a bad one (didn't open up the block yet forgot my imbus keys) with not enough surface area but still...

I just want to do some keeping cool of the VGA in summertime and they seem suited for it. I don't want -10 when the room is 30°C I just want relativly cool temps so when room = 30, like 35,40 °C MAX on the core

such temps I want, I don't need -10 :D
