I go tthis and now I'm being told it will OC like ass...

A while back I asked the same question and everyone seemed to recomend it...
Now I'm confused...
I think one stick may be defective as it seems to have killed my other MB,
Both sticks in NF2 = blue screen,
took one stick out = prime stbale 20+ hours
swapped it for the other stick = blue screen,
put known good stick back in = blue screen
put old 512 MB corsair back in = blue screen
What should I do now? I got it for X-mas and the UPC code is removed for a rebate that will probably never come... I decided it is time for a new system and I have all my parts but the liquid cooling.

waiting on opteron 165...
I want to go fast! Should I buy another 2 gigs of different memory?

I wouldn't pay that much for Gig sticks
and those aren't the best..
Heck I would suggest you get Some HZ for about $80 cheaper..
UCCCs are good chips

Yea but I have these already without the UPC code brand new I have not even had a chance to use them....
Are they going to greatly screw up my liquid cooling overclock on my 165 when I get it?
What should I do get some Ballistix sticks instead?

I don't Think a FSB of 270mhz Is going to completely screw up your overclock because you can always use a divider

270?
I was told that these won't overclock past 206 at rated speeds and won't reach more than 235 FSB tops...

AFAIK, the titanium sticks are the exact same as the pc3200 platinums, the only difference is the cross swapping policy thats on the titanium's.

Trust me you are very mistaken..

Feel free to click any of the Review links..
They Agree with me.. and I have a pair and they Do 285mhz without much work and without any extra voltage..
Just remember to check for the UCCC chips

doh! I poste dthe worng link, the prices threw me off since I got them last month for like $30 more....

Thats what I have, like you said they are the same thing right?
How do I check for UCCC chips?

To check you have to take to Heat spreader off
But Right now I know those chips are Micron..
Which have been dying a dozen lately...
Return them and get a real set of sticks

I think I can only return them to OCZ right?

If you bought them from newegg.. you can return them to newegg
Worst comes to worst you sell them on Ebay

Only problem is the UPC code was cut so my dad could attempt to get his rebate.
I don't think newegg will take them back + it has been almost 30 days now and I still can't test them yet because I don't have a processor!
So I think I am pretty much stick with these sticks.
Also I don't see where in the review you liked says anything about OCZ memory.

I went TO OCZ's site and they said straight forward Micron chips
which are the things that used to Make ballistix so good..
But They are being extremely touchy with Voltage..
If you don't mind keeping the Voltage low.. They will perform pretty well but not as great as possible

what is billistix using now that makes them so much better? Thanks for all your help BTW!

sure about that? AFAIK OCZ guys always told these were Infineon... or Aeneon, as you can see here:

Justin, could you check what revision are your, in the lower right corner of the sticker:

V1.0 here...
If they are infineon, that means I may as well order 2 new sticks and just eat the $240 loss correct?

it depends... try them out properly in NF4 mobo.
you can always use the dividers and keep them around 200-210MHz 2-3-2.
on the other hand you may get them to 240ish on NF4. don't do anything until you put together your new system.

Justin,
The Titanium are not high FSB overclockers....that part is correct. They do carry the best warranty we offer though, because we cross ship in the event an RMA is necessary.
High5 is correct...we need to get them in the expert board to see if there are any issues....trying to test them in an NF2 is not a great experience...the NF2 had enough issues with 512 sticks...let alone 1GB.
What board is your NF2? Tell me and we might be able to run some more tests on the ram.
Thanks

Ryder, the Nforce 2 board I am using is an epox 8rda+.
Also I don't have the titanium chips I have the Platinums...
However the memory seems to have killed the board as it is no longer stable, it freezes up about a 1/2 hour after you turn it on, even when I put the old memory back in.
In fact it makes me skeptical to even put this memory in my new board after spending a fortune on it.
Is there any way I can trade these OCZ's in for sticks that will better serve my purpose? I don't care if the chips are less expensive or if I have to pay more to do so...
it sounds like my best bet is to order some other memory since I have already invested an extra $500 into overclocking I see these chips holding me way back.
At the time when I got this memory I asked aorund and people were impressed with these OCZ chips....Guess I messed up big time here! In fact I started to build a new computer JUST because of this memory so these chips have ended up cositng me $1000's to do a simple memory upgrade, and now that I bought a whole new computer I find out the memory I got is what sucks...So now I can't even use that .............................AAAARGGGGGHHHHHhh
So can someone point me to the correct memory to buy so I don't flush away a couple more hundred dollars down the toilet? I knew it was a bad idea to build a new PC..........

don't be silly... wait for a new mobo before you form an opinion on your RAM.
NF2 is very old stuff, what you're seeing might be some sort of incompatibility.

Yea I have a whole new PC I'm building.... Like I said, I purchased a whol new PC thanks to this ram...
And if it was simply an incompatability then how come my old ram is no longer stable in my NF2 board either?
New mem toasted my board in some way no matter how I look at it...
Now just waiting on a CPU (last part of system) so I can further look into it....
