I'm starting a blog for partly my own personal interst and partly because my friend needs people to help him get some traffic. Anyway, I'm obvioulsy going to be talking alot about technology. I was thinking I will write some entries on Overclocking. I'll write some quick and dirty guides to overclocking...which I know is fair game since it's common knowledge. But Xs is known to uncover some really unique stuff like for example the 3.3V mod on DFI NF4 boards. If I say some thing like

"Sayya and the member of Xs have recently discussed and addressed some issues the DFI NF4 motherboard faces involving volatge regulation blah blah blah." Then explain whats going on...how to fix it and then link to the Xs post/thread where the matter is discussed.

Would any of you be opposed to that? Not really sure I'll get any traffic as pretty much ayone who reads my site will ultimitly be overclockers involved in active online communities ,but just for the hell of it.

:stick: :fact:

nah, if you write guides you can even link to them in your sig man :)
thx for asking :toast:

Here's the link if you're interested and it will be in my sig. It's still in its rough stages but I'm pretty proud of it so far.

mind if i point out some things?

1. minimum cpu multi is 4x

2. the method you described to calculate memory speed is incorrect for K8's..
memory speed = cpu speed / memory divider
where memory divider = ceiling(cpu multi / memory ratio)

so if i had 11x255mhz for 2805mhz, with a 166mhz, 5:6 ratio...
your method (which is correct for intel and the older amd's) puts the ram at 255 * 5/6 = 212.5mhz

the way the K8 based cpu's work, the ram is running at..
11 / (5/6) = 13.2 -> 14
2805mhz / 14 = 200.36mhz

it's also worth pointing out that the lowest memory divider is cpu/5.. which is why the 4x cpu multi gives weird results when running 1:1 ;)

ozzy is right you should update your guide with correct information so that it does not mislead people

Thanks a bunch for the comments, I'll adjust my guide. I guess I kind of explained it assuming no one would be using a divider. I'll work on it tonight :D

Ok I updated it with the correct info I beleive. I'm having a hard time with the flow of this guide and when I get some spare time I'm going to have to re-order it so it makes sense after one read and not 3.
